I have a boxer, and also a cockatiel. Well my boxer decided to be a prick and step on my bird and ripped every single tail feather out. I called the emergency vet clinics and told them i can't afford to bring him in, but if there's anything i can do, I wanna know. they said they can't provide me any information basically bc i can't afford to bring him there.. and so i cussed both places i called out. I am a tore up mess and don't know what to do, i haven't noticed any bleeding, but that doesn't mean crap. does ANYONE know what i might can do?????

If it's just the tail feather he stepped on then the bird will be fine. Since you aren't able to take him to a vet, just keep a close eye on him for signs that he is unwell. I know it's difficult to afford an unexpected vet visit, but most clinics will allow you to pay off your bill in installments if you speak to them and make arrangements in advance.

Did the dog actually step on the bird or just the tail feathers? I read an article once that said some birds will release their tail feathers if they get caught by something so it enables them to get away . As long as the dog didnt step on the bird and there is no bleeding, she will probably be ok.

If the feathers have been pulled out the bird should be fine . It may have a problem flying without its tail , but should manage fine in its cage .

Check for any signs of bleeding or infection.
