White and cream are the two colors that are pretty universal when it comes to bridal attire ... I would definitely stay away from both and wear a navy blue or black gown. An evening wedding probably means it is black tie optional, so dark colors would be best.

You know, I really wouldn't. It really is not good etiquette to compete with the bride. What I would do is buy a lovely soft colored dress in a color that suits you maybe with spaghetti straps. There are so many beautiful dresses shown during the spring, so you will have your choice. Try bluefly.com for dresses. Good Luck

I actually have looked into this. The bride should be the only one to wear white, ivory or cream. Any other color...including black is alright.

In our culture, brides wear white. Everyone else wears something other than white. Look for another color.

no way. cream is pushing it but do you want to be confused with the bride? at an evening wedding you should be wearing something dark like burgandy or plum... something like that
