Some women pick men to marry: Others pick them to pieces.

In an ideal situation, all drivers would be forced to take extensive driving training classes before obtaining a license, and be forced to re-sit every time they had a moving violation or an accident (even if not at-fault.)

However, gender profiling would be a foolish waste of time and money -- unless you used it to have MALE drivers re-sit more often.

Consider the insurance companies: they live and die by statistics, and their numbers have to be reliable or they'll quickly go bankrupt. Male drivers -- especially young ones -- have MUCH higher insurance coverage rates than female drivers, and the single factor that lowers male insurance rates? Getting married. Just having a woman in your life will make a man a safer driver, and statistics don't lie: women are generally safer drivers than men.

That said, all of that goes out the window if you have a moving violation or an accident. Gender is a great initial indicator for predicting poor driving skills, but nothing trumps real-world behavior -- which is why rates go up when you've involved in something, regardless of your gender or marital status.

Every driver should have to re-sit their tests periodically.

Personally, I think that that 'the passing of an Advance Drivers Qualification' should have some bearing on the lowering of a drivers insurance premium too. It tends to make for a better (more aware) driver and it would be good if this was acknowledged in this way.

Men and women should have to re-sit the driving test every two years. Bad driving is not based on sex, just on stupidity and multi-tasking. Last week, a man nearly rammed into a bus because he was putting on his tie while driving with his knees. A woman hit a parked car because she was attempting to talk on the cell phone and park at the same time.

Bit of a sexist silly question/statement I think!!
Provisional motorcycle riders do not have resit a driving test every 2 years, check your facts before asking. With your question it helps me paint a picture of you, early 20's acne potted face and doesn't have a girlfriend? maybe yes maybe no, However If a test were to be taken every set period then it would have to be for all those who have a full driving licence.

Good idea and MEN should have to sit it every 5 years as they pose the most danger on the roads! Statistical fact!

While 1,181 men were killed on the country's roads over the past 12 months, the number was fewer with women, at 435 (one survey overseas)

Women are involved in fewer accidents, commit fewer motoring offences and are more likely to pass their driving test at the first attempt. Data claim statistics collected over decades by insurance companies show that men get into more accidents, and accidents caused by men lead to damage that is more severe. Therefore, women are better, safer drivers than men.

I think that tests should be compulsory for drivers with traffic convictions, ie speeding etc. Also for any drivers who have ever been stopped for drink driving. As you will probably be aware that would actually mean a much higher percentage of men, especially young men, would need to re-sit their test.

These posts are really starting to get boring. I have come to the conclusion that the person who asks these questions are more worried about their own driving, so shift the blame onto others.
