Any decent gun store should have some of the SUPERIOR Yugoslavian AK-47s. The Yugos are top of the line models with heavy duty RPK receivers, nice Teak wood stocks, excellent fit & finish, and a neat grenade launcher and sight, plus a bayonet. Under folding stock would be metal and a bit higher priced. The Russian models are used. My Yugo is in new unissued condition. The Chinese AKs are only above the lowly Romanian AKs but still might be found in pawn shops.

Get a copy of Shotgun News. (Walmart and Safeway in my area have this publication or contact the publisher. They use to send out a sample issue for free.)They will have lots of legal, semi-auto AK-47 rifles for sale. Bring the add to anyone with a Federal Firearms License to order one for you. Shogun News has a list of FFL holders who will order one for you. They usually charge $15 to $40 for this service.
By the way, there is no Federal law prohibiting a law abiding citizen from owning a full auto. (Many states do however prohibit them.) The are regulated and typically must be pre-1986. They are now EXPENSIVE! Easily 10-20K for many models.
You can also get a parts kit for what you want for about $100, then buy a completed receiver for $50-75. You can also make your own receiver from scratch. (Check your state and local laws! but Federal is OK on this.)

Don't rule out the older preban Chinese Polytech AK's with the milled receivers. They came in many versions and are of excellent quality. One version I have, a "National Match" AK, has a longer then standard barrel and shoots better then my H-Bar AR and can keep up with my M1A. (Not only that but it looks kick-a** with a 75 rd drum and RPK type folding bi-pod installed)There were also underfold versions as well as standard ones. You can usually find these on gunbroker from time to time......but not for cheap $$.
