Is it from family history? Living an unhealthy life? What causes cancer? Or is the cause unknown, and it just kind of shows up?

we don't really know because if we knew then we could find a way to stop cancer.

a rough idea is your cells have a set life span, usually of a few days or less. when some cell don't obey the termination sequence, in the DNA, the cells start to malfunction and make other malfunctioning cells. they malfunction because they are not meant to live long.

people that have cancer in their family usually get it because the genes responsible for this problem are inherited.

of course you can get it ofter ways like skin cancer from the sun.

I believe it is part heredity, part invironment, and part personality (type A, type B, happy, angry, stressed, etc).
Cancer is an overgrowth of certain cells. The stress from any of the above examples can, and do, affect people in different ways. Even some injuries can later promote tumor and cancer growth.
I don't feel it is caused by any one thing.

It's unknown but many factors contribute to the likelihood of increasing its chances as we all know.

many things causes cancer. certain food, sun rays, magentic towers, family genes, etc
