Any addiction is a serious thing. First off, contratulations! You've recognized that chewing 15 pieces of gum a day is not good for you.
Second, it's not going to be easy to kick the habit. There are some good suggestions listed here like chewing sunflower seeds or you can chew on celery with peanut butter or baby carrots. Yes, it's a good substitute for your constant gum chewing.
I would call your dentist to see what he or she says about it. Perhaps they can give you a couple of tips about limiting your gum chewing or even recommend switching brands to go to something that would be more beneficial for your teeth.
You can also exercise. It's amazing what a little consistent exercise can do for you. Try 30 minutes a day whether a brisk walk, biking, hiking, running, jogging, whatever you are into. This will distract you from your need for the constant chewing.
I wouldn't give up gum altogether (unless your dentist or doctor tells you so). Reward yourself with a piece after breakfast or lunch, and then one after dinner. Space it out like some previous poster recommended. Thus you only buy one or two packs a week at the store. Knowing you have to pace yourself.
As with any addiction, you need support. Tell a friend, family member, or co-worker that you want to cut back or quit. They will be your support system and will keep you in check.
Finally, be patient. They say it takes two weeks to develop a habit. Give yourself some time and don't be hard on yourself when you screw up. Be confident and tell yourself I can beat this. Believe it and you will eventually.
Good luck!

It's horrible to feel that anything has a hold on you, but you could have a worse habit. Just make sure the gum you are chewing is sugar free. Otherwise you are constantly bathing your teeth in sugar which will encourage the growth of bacteria and give you bad breath and cavities. Try to avoid chewing gum at work or school. It really doesn't look very classy.
If you want to conquer this addiction, try remembering why you started chewing so much in the first place. Are you concerned about bad breath? Do you tend to overeat? Do you smoke or are you trying to quit? By understanding the secondary gain involved you can fight the addiction. Check with your dentist to make certain you're not doing your teeth any harm.

Stop calling it an addiction would be a first step. It is a habit and nothing more. You are not addicted to chewing gum you just like to do it. Medical science has not found an addicting agent in the ingredients of common chewing gum.
Now that we have established that it is simply a habit, your problem resolves down to whether or not you really want to quit. One mental picture will help you in your decision: That of seeing yourself constantly chewing as others do. It is disgusting to your elders and possibly to your peers. Who the hell wants to face someone whose jaw is constantly working.
Think of yourself for what you are presenting about yourself and you are on the first step to quitting. Then consider this simple solution; Just don't put the damn gum into your mouth.
Try it and I guarantee it will work. In the meantime thank God you don't smoke, or do you.
Keep in mind that all objects of your desires do not reach out and enslave you. You just reach for them and enslave yourself. Ever considered how much more money you would have in your pocket if you weren't spending it at the Wrigley's counter?

wow, thats excessive. Read the ingredients to see what nasty stuff you are consuming. If that doesnt do the trick, I don't know what to tell you. If you don't know what an ingredient in your gum is, google it to find out. There is some mighty nasty stuff in most-colors made from crushed beatles, etc. Try chewing on a straw

pick up smoking. No I am not serious on that at all. Gum like smoking is an oral fixation. Try chewing on a straw or toothpick and slowly ween yourself down.

Well, there are many ways to stop chewing gum, you could tell you family to hide it, suck on a lollipop, or suck on a cough drop ( even though you don't have a cough)

Take up smoking! HAHA! Just kidding. Don't do that. Try limiting your intake by portioning out the number of pieces you allow yourself each day. Decrease by one piece every third or fourth day.
