People try many different fad diets to lose ten pounds. Once the ten pounds are gone and the fad diet is over, the weight comes back with a few more pounds. This is a vicious cycle that can eventually create obesity. The problem with fad diets is that they are not sustainable. They cannot be maintained for your lifetime. By making sustainable changes in your diet and exercise habits, you can create a healthier body and feel better about yourself.

The best way to lose ten pounds and keep it off is by altering your diet slightly and adding exercise. Changing your diet will have the fastest effect because you can eliminate calories. Calories are what provide your body with energy, but, in excess, they are stored as fat. Write down everything, including water, juice, soda, bread, snacks, etc., that goes into your mouth for one week. Be honest with yourself. If you need to, carry a small notebook and pen or pencil in your pocket so you can write down everything. Total the calories that you consumed each day. At the end of the week, look at your diet. If you can eliminate 500 calories each day, you will lose one pound each week. Make sure you are eating a well balanced diet, implementing any changes slowly so you can maintain them for your lifetime. A good diet rule is, everything in moderation, except fresh fruits and vegetables, which can be in excess.

Adding exercise to the dietary changes will help maintain the weight loss and trim your body. Exercise increases your metabolism, which burns more calories during and after your workout. You do not need to undergo physically straining exercise, just a moderate to fast-paced walk most of the days of the week will create results.

Don't you hate when you ask a question and you get lectured or they tell you "how about two weeks?" I am going to answer it plain and simple since I am sure you already know 10 lbs in a week is very unhealthy.

You can:
A) go on the atkins diet and lose weight. If you don't lose ten you will lose close to it.

You can:
B) Starve for a week or better put it "fast." I am sure with that you will lose at least 10 lbs. Just don't binge when you get back to eating. Start by eating soup and then veggies then gradually back to food. You will notice you eat less too because your stomach sort of "shrinks."

Or you can:
C) Go vegeterian but work out 3-4 hours a day mstly cardio but a little bit of weights. Jessica Biel did it for Blade 3 and I am sure you seen her results in the movie.

That's it.

I've tried many diets and couldn't make anything work. Since having my first child, I've been carrying around an extra 30 pounds. This diet just made sense and showed me that everything I was doing before was wrong and a waste of my time.

The plan was so refreshing and so simple to follow. I did everything plan said and lost 23 pounds in the first three weeks. I'm now starting the diet again to lose 7 more pounds. This plan has changed my life.

Get started today!

I lost twenty in about two and a half weeks, but I've gained about half back. I know I wasn't being very healthy though, as I stopped eating for most of that time. If you want to keep the weight off, this probably isn't a good way to do it, but if it's just for a couple days, it'll work. If you go on a water fast (basically only drink water), you'll lose 1-3 pounds per day.

Once again the most popular yahoo answers question in the diet section.

It's hard enough to gain 10 pounds in a week. How on earth do you expect to lose 10 in one week?!?! If you do, it's all water weight and catabolized muscle.

To lose this amount of weight in 1 week, you would almost have to quit eating that week. You can do it within two, but one is pushing it.

Eat small, low-fat, low-calorie meals. Snack healthily and small every couple hours (this speeds up your metabolism) and exercise. A lot. Run six miles every day. Trust me this works. I went through anorexia.
