About 3 1/2 to 4 years ago my ex-girlfriend was founf out to be pregnant. She assured me it wasnt mine it was this other guys. I have not seen her about 3 years, about a month ago I saw pictures of her kid and there is a resemblance. So I kind of freaked out and started doing the math on the conception and the day the child was born and come to find out it is like a two week difference or gap. I know that it has already been three years but is there a way to get a DNA test if I may have some idea that the kid could be mine? She is currently in the works of trying to work it out with the alleged father, and the fact is that I dont want to get back with her I just want to know the truth. I am also kind of worried because this is all coming so quickly and she has been rumored to be moving far away in a few months. So I would like to find out NOW! Any suggestions or advice?

She can deny you, but if you get lawyers and court involved then she has no way to refuse or get out of it.

GOOD LUCK!!!

Well the laws are different in each state concerning paternity issues. But you as an alleged father do have the right to request a DNA test. Basically you can go by two ways, One talk to your ex and explain your reasoning why you would like a test. Hopefully if she is understanding she will cooperate with your request. You may have to pay for the DNA test and the fees vary and are costly but i think the knowledge of knowing is far more valuable than a price tag. If your ex does not cooperate with your request and denies the test, then legal matters would have to get involved and that of course is more costly and stressful as well. My advice would be to search your local DNA testing centers and get prices and talk with your ex too. If worse comes to worse, seek a lawyer and take it to court. Situations and laws do vary so keep that in mind. It's never too late to be a parent so whether you find out now or a year from now, i know it would be worth it with the reward of having a child and you seem like a concerned dad that would take responsibility if the child was yours. I wish you luck with this situation. God Bless

I believe if the father wants the test, the only way she would be able to deny having it done was if she had one done proving that the other guy is indeed the father. But the real question here is are you willing to accept it if he is your child or can you accept it if he is not? Been there and done that.............my ex-husband ordered a Paternity test because he thought he would get out of paying child support, and I wanted one too but so he would be unable to get out of supporting his child. Well he had to pay for it, and our son came back 99.998% positive to be his, which I already knew, but now my ex is on the run from the law, and a wanted fugitive because he's over $55,000.00 behind in child support. Just be careful what you wish for!

All you have to do is take her to court. Say you want a paternity test. If for some reason that won't work then call one of the several talk shows and they can get it done for you. Or you can call 1-800-DNA-TEST and they can asist you. Good luck and I think it's great you are being such an adult and wanting to take care of your responsibility.

they could deny to do it. you could get a court order for the paternity test. Good luck.

if she is refusing you the paternity test she is probably unsure herself. if you are serious about this definitely take it to court before it is to late.

As long as she's not asking for money or child support then you really don't have a claim
