My daughter loves to draw on the walls with pencils and markers, and these drawings do not wash out, so I need to paint the walls. The color on the walls is white, but I would like to use light pink color. So my question is: should I apply white color first to hide the drawings OR should I apply the pink color from the beginning? And If I don't need to apply a white color first, then should I apply 2 layers of pink color or 1 is enough?
Thank you for your answers!

youll have to paint on a coat of a product called KILLZ. you can use it as a primer, or you can have it tinted just like any other paint (youll have to paint over it too). it will create a barrier so the old drawings dont bleed through to the new paint...which they will if you dont use this.

Get yourself a quart of Zinsser product called "123" it's a water based primer/sealer and just paint over your daughters art work, you don't need a heavy coat meaning if you can still see it a little don't worry this primer will seal it. A light pink will cover no problem with a good quality paint. I suggest go to your Benjamin Moore and ask for there "Super Spec" line and get it in a eggshell finish Good luck and you can do it. Les the painter YOU DON"T have to prime the whole wall just your art work

im a painter and would recommend using a primer/sealer such as zinsser or something comparable. menards carries zinsser this will prevent any "previous artwork" from bleeding through. this primer will look very thin after applying but it works. afterwards, apply two coats of pink latex paint. i agree with les the painter, just cover the drawings. make sure that when you roll the sealer, to not "gob" it on so that when you apply your finish coats, you cant see where you previously primed (putting a heavy coat on will change the wall texture).

Apply a single coat of primer, then 1-2 coats of pink paint.

Suggestion: Home depot has a product called chalk board paint paint one wall with it or a small area to keep you from doing this again and she will think it is cool but to answer your question prime the wall with stain blocker primer they can add tint to it to match the color you are painting then paint with your color

You might want to put a coat of primer on first. Go ask someone at the DIY or Lowes or hardware store and they'll tell you what you need to do.

I'll tell u this, if u paint the white first, and it doesn't dry, then you add light pink, it'll be a very lite pink.
