I have a terrible sleep pattern. Some nights a can't get to sleep before midnight, even if I try. But If I go to bed before Midnight, I wake up really early in the day (Like 4am) and then can't get back to sleep which ends in me being tired and wanting to sleep in the middle of the day, If I am home and not working, I do end up sleeping.
If I got bed after midnight, sometimes I still wake up at 4am and am groggy during the day. I have tried sleeping pills but they just make me groggy all day and only help with getting to sleep, they don't keep me asleep.
After I actually get to sleep, I wake up every couple of hours or even every hour, I can never sleep a full night through.
I also have bad nightmares sometimes.
I have seen doctors and even a psychologist about this and they just suggest sleeping tablets, which I know won't work plus I don't want to rely on them.
How can I get "normal" sleep with out the use of products?

Also something not involving too much cost and easily attainable.

I had that problem a couple years ago , i know it sucks!. If you have too many things on your plate, that can be the biggest sleep killer of all!.not to mention sugar , caffeine.. a restless mind and a tired body don't go hand in hand . take notice of what you do b4 u go 2 bed , try reading a book, or listening to soft music. You might find what it is that's not letting u get a good nights sleep.but, it sounds to me like you got alot on your mind....and i know how that feels..hope u get some good sleep!!

Your circadian rhythm(sleep) is out of whack. Traditionally doctors have prescribed drugs which you've already stated that you don't wish to use. You need to maintain exceptional sleep hygiene. Absolutely no caffeine after 4 p.m. No exercise after 7 p.m. No reading, watching T.V. in bed. Basically don't to anything in bed but sleep and (YOU KNOW). Set a regular time to retire every night and stick to it. Even on weekends and holidays. The same for getting up in the morning.. If you off and your worried that you may nap, leave the house. Go for a walk, visit a friend, anything but sleep. Also, avoid alcohol while 'resetting' your body clock. In extreme cases, we've actually kept the patient up for 36-48 hours before letting them sleep and then waking them at 6 a.m. to 'reset' their body clock. Best wishes for a good night sleep.

I've had the same problem, and so does my father. we have tried everything, and had similar results as you. For me, the best thing to do is not eat any chocolate and not much sugar, and DO NOT DRINK ANY coffee, or any caffeinated soda at any point of the day, weather it be 2 AM or 5 PM, don't drink or eat it, because caffeine starts alot later than you do, and ends much later than you would ever think.you may also want to get a new mattress and/or pillow. Between these three things, i have had alot more sleep, and i hope that it helps you, too!

My friend swears by SUPER SNOOZE w/MELATONIN CAPSULES by Puritan's Pride. They are all natural and the only pill I would take for insomnia. With all the new information about how bad these prescribed meds are for you now.........too many side effects to be worth it...........this is the way to go. Also, of course, a schedule would be a good idea. Good luck.

Your biological clock is similar to mine. Sometimes I have to "exhaust" myself in order to rectify this. It is not legal though, and I would really like to remedy that. Get a hold of some crystal meth that is 95 to 98% pure, don't smoke it, by all means don't inject it, snort it or sprinkle it in a drink---stay up for a while. See if that won't fix your problem!
