What's your oponion of the LDS (Mormon) faith??

Question

So everyone knows. I am a member of this church. I want completley honest answers and why you believe that. If you have any questions about it. Go ahead and e-mail me it and i'll respond.

The only true religion. Mormons know more about their beliefs than members of any other religion know about their own.

I base my belief off of what God has told me through the Holy Ghost.

The theology and cosmology are silly as a drunken school boy.

The Book of Mormon and Pearl of Great Price are notorious frauds.

Smith was a con artist.

But the claim of the LDS being a restorationist movement is not entirely ridiculous when you look at early doctrines that the majority Roman bishops declared heretical. You find a number of these in the LDS which make more rational sense than the doctrines the Roman church declared.

Evangelicals will claim that these first and second century "heterodoxies" prove Mormonism is heresy.
I say it simply proves their side lost the vote.

So I think the LDS legitimately claim to be Christian. And some really neat friends over the years have been LDS, though I've found the friendships don't last when they realize you're not going to convert.

But I will never forgive the LDS for the original Battlestar Galactica (Mormons in Space).

I am not a Christian, but I see a lot of problems with Mormonism. First of all, I take offense at the idea that God punished the Indians by changing their skin color; this smacks of racism (I myself am part Cherokee). Second, it speaks of a civilization in North America, the remains of which have yet to have been found by any archaeologist. Third, several places in the Book of Mormon are direct quotations from the Bible. If Joseph Smith translated this, then why is it a verbatim quote of the King James Version? It seems unlikely that this would be the case, especially when there is a translational error in the KJV that, strangely, appears in the Book of Mormon.

I have a quite high opinion of it. Of course, I am a member of it, so you probably won't count my opinion. In general, I think most people know little or nothing of what we actually believe. We are not polygamists, nor do we deny Christ or the Bible. I think most people automatically discount us, because they do not take the time to investigate what we believe. This can be said of almost any religion, but I think it is especially prevelant against Mormons, because there is quite a strong and almost organized opposition which is more outspoken than actual members who understand the doctrine.

It contradicts the fundamental teachings of Jesus Christ of Nazareth.

Mostly decent people. Some rather bizarre theology but who cares? How we live is more important then what we believe.
