Trans fats are not the product of heating or cooking an oil, they are a side-effect of hydrogenation -- an industrial process performed on oils to improve their texture at room temperature and to help preserve them. Crisco is one of the best examples of a hydrogenated oil.

In terms of health and diet, there are better oils to incorporate into your diet than soybean oil. Olive, avocado, walnut and sesame oils all have excellent nutritional profiles and may actually decrease your risk of high blood pressure, coronary disease and elevated cholesterol.
