Well the preachers and theologists have a closed mind set. They refuse to see things a different way. Scienist or the like wants to see results and find the answer not just say ok so that's the way it is.

In a nut shell thw world comm. would rather ask why than blind faith.

Do you believe a Creature may explain to its Creator? In the oriental religions, the best way to explain The One Who Gave us Life, is by a respectful Silence. All creatures who say they may explain to its Creator are really wrong, because nobody may explain to its Creator. The revealed Truth? But revealed by Which One, in which culture. What do you think about this: In order for you to exist, was necessary build the whole Universe. In the beginning there were not matter, no space, no time. Only an infinite energy very hot and condensed. 15,000 million years ago, approx was the Big Explosion. At that instant was created the row material of the Universe, the hydrogen atom. Then in the stars were created all the atoms. Our destiny is to grow as persons, to become to be very rich in spiritual way. If we do that, we will become to be able to arrive to the plenitude of being, and existing where there is no matter, no time no space, but plenitude. So our destiny is that.

It all depends upon what you mean by "smarter". If you mean that if they all took I.Q. tests how do I think the AE Preachers would compare then I think that on average their scores would be lower although some would be as high. If you mean "smarter" in the way that pertains to being wise then I would say that the Preachers are most likely wiser than those whom you have listed because as Jesus said to the "smart" people of his day:

"The Son of Man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man who is a glutton and a winebibber, a friend of tax-collectors and sinners. But wisdom was justified by her children. Matthew 11:19

or as Paul wrote to the believers who lived in the ancient Greek city of Corinth where people took great pride in their intellect and learning:

"For the Jews ask for a sign, and the Greeks seek after wisdom; but we preach Christ crucified, to the Jews a stumbling block, and to the Greeks foolishness. But to them, the called-out ones, both Jews and Greeks, Christ is the power of God and the wisdom of God. 1 Corinthians 1:22-24

Throughout the centuries the Bible has withstood assault after assault from the so called "wise men" of each age. Eventually new discoveries have been made and what the scientists thought was sure and contradictory to the Bible has been proved false and the Bible true. For as Peter wrote to the Jews who had been scattered by the persecution they endured from the "wise men" of their day:

"For "All flesh is like grass and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers, and the flower falls, but the word of the Lord remains forever." And this word is the good news that was preached to you. 1 Peter 1:24-25

I would say they were about par. Why do people assume that biologist, physicists and the rest are so much smarter than anyone else? They usually aren't they are just dedicated to the field they choose the same as everyone else.

I don't recall seeing a more vapid and moot question on this site. Sadly it seems that some only come here to incite conflict. Childish behavior is a demonstration of childish thinking. Yet sadly those that act in such manner are ignorant that they only demean themselves.

Just how does ones chosen career relate to certain knowledge by others as to their intellectual prowess?

"At that very moment Jesus rejoiced greatly in the Holy Spirit, and said "I praise you O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You hid these things from the wise and intelligent and revealed them to mere babes. Yes Father, for thus it was well-pleasing in your sight." (Luke 10:21)

"For since in the wisdom of God, the world by its wisdom did not come to know God, God was well pleased through the foolishness of the message preached to save those who believe....For consider your calling, brothers, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many of noble birth; but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong, and the base things of the world and the despised, God has chosen, the things which are nothing, that He might bring to nothing the things that appear to be something, so that no man should boast before God."
(I Corinthians 1:21,26-29)
The point is, it doesn't matter how smart you are, you can't escape death and the judgment of God for your sins; and finding God has nothing to do with IQ.

On average, 25 points lower in IQ. To do first class work in the sciences, I'd say that you need an IQ of 130 or better, i.e. Mensa material. To do work the quality of Feynman, Bohr, or Schrodinger, probably 150 or more.

A lot less smarter.

I'd like to see the Pope win in a debate with (the late) Carl Sagan, or Richard Dawkins.

No comparison. Evangelicals have the brainpower of an ant compared to scientists.

Different kind of training. Like comparing apples and oranges. Some of their parishioners are scientists.
