My tai kwon do teacher recommended that i practice outside class when i became an orange belt. I'm an advanced purple belt and i still practice outside class. You don't have to wait until you're a higher belt to perfect whatever kind of martial arts that you are doing. It'll make things easier training outside of class if u are ever planning on participating in tournaments.=)

Pretty much from the start. There are always things you can perfect outside your dojo. Depending what you're studying form, stance, movements, falls, katas and all basic moves can be practiced on your own. I like to practice a few things I've learned in class on the next day, so that it stays fresh in my mind. You're going to need a partner to test the effectiveness of a technique, but practicing the form outside the dojo will help you get that mind/body connexion faster.

I started TKD in 1992 when I was 44 years old. By training outside the Do Jang (in Korean styles it's called Do Jang, not Dojo) do you mean practicing outside of class? I always have & I tell my students to do so.

I started training out of the dojo as soon as I started to learn. 3-4 hours a week of dojo time is not enough practice at all. The way I look at it is I go to the dojo to learn and practice on my spare time outside. Perfect practice makes perfect.

Depends on how old u r if u started at a lower grade, u would be more prepared in the future. If u started late, and u r a like, yellow belt or white, u r in trouble! I am a yellow belt 2 in Shito - Ryu.

train when ever you can. if people only train on training days in the dojo, the guy/girl who trains every chance they get will achieve more.

I think you're supposed to practice OUTSIDE of class, too.
