I think it is the mastiff.

Okay, I just looked it up. The largest recorded dog on earth was an English Mastiff. The tallest was an Irish Wolfhound.

According to the people on Crufts yesterday, the Irish Wolfhound is the biggest. Larger even than mastiffs, Great Danes and so on.

There was a dog on the news last week and it was about 20 stone. Thats a pretty big dog. It didn't say what it was but it looked crossed between a Labrador and a Great Dane.

You need to be more specific. The tallest breed in the world is the Irish Wolfhound. The heaviest breed is the Old English Mastiff. If you mean overall bulk, it is the Saint Bernard.
