"You've got to be taught to hate," is an old song from the sixties. Children have no natural, inborn, hate or bigotry. Churches have a lot to do with the teaching of hate, so don't blame it all on the parents.

Examples: Witches, Gays, Lesbians, and all non majority religions.

Once taught to hate, the child finds it a wondrous weapon to play with and begins to garner its own list of hates---like other children who might be more intelligent.

Actually, I get invitations to speak at churches. Once I spoke from the pulpit during services on the subject of the Burning Times. I'm older now, and have little patience with the "trick" questions that have become boring in their sameness. So I seldom the invitations.

I agree with the people who say it's a power thing. They know the best way to keep people from questioning is to keep them distracted with something else to worry about/hate.

I know all churches don't preach hatred. Some are very loving. For those who think no churches, or few, teach children hate, have you SEEN that Jesus Camp flick? Scary hate-mongering aimed at kids.

Because it's all they know. They also have been taught at a young age who and what they should hate. They are just passing it down to the next generation and so on. If you are taught hate as a child then it doesn't really look like hate does it. Especially if it is all they have known.
As for don't blame it all on the parents comment, no it's not all the parents fault, but the parent is the one who should be teaching the child that it is not alright to hate, not the church, not the school system, not friends. The child is the parents responsibility.

I don't believe all churches are like this. But for those who say "you've never been to church," or "they don't," well, I have seen whole congregations infested with hate and intolerance toward other religions, races, beliefs, and ideas. I have seen these attitudes tear up families and cause great mental suffering for some.

No, it's not all churches, but it is some - maybe even a lot. Don't turn a blind eye to the fact that it happens just because it doesn't happen in your church.

I agree and know what you mean. They can be so hypocritical. They say love and respect bla bla bla, then they turn around and say all this bad stuff about gay's, nonbelievers, etc etc. Also how they put down other religions is a problem with the whole hate issue. I don't understand why people don't see what they are doing, because it is quite obvious. You did ask a good question and bring up a good point though!

a little confused about your question- are oyu saying that the nonmajority churches are the ones with the majority teaching hate or churches teach to hate those churches, I don't get it, Anyway...

How many churches have you actually been to that you can make such a statement? "The MAJORITY" even- WOW!! you must really get around because I have been to several churches in three different states and so far I have yet to come across a hate ridden church. I do use quite a bit of discernment when choosing what church to go to so I may just be lucky in having avoided that majority out there! Not that there are not hte hateful few who call themselves Christians, but I have seen quite a few hate filled atheists who never darkened the doorway of a church- please, tell me what their excuse is ??

I don't care if they are taught certain things are wrong,
that's the parent's and the family's business if they teach their child that homosexuality is wrong,
but once they start filling their head with crap like the entire world is in a massive conspiracy to dethrone God discredit the bible simply by stating scientific facts which have been researched, compiled tested evidence for over a hundred years,
now that's going too far.

I agree, totally. I first heard homophobia in a church, I was shocked, even when I was little, I thought the church was nice...
to think they justify this with 'but love the sinner' such a hypocracy and a lie, at least admit it...
dont let THEM say they dont teach hate, cos they do. I'm not gay btw, and I never listned in church after that, lost all respect for it.

I have visited many many many Church's in my area of South Carolina and only once in fifty years did i hear a preacher say something hateful.he said it about a new church being built near that church he had and they were of another faith and he called them heathens and i got up and left right then
My dear Mother would have not attended any church that taught hate against anyone.she was a true Christan. a caring loving person.as most all my people or.and she brought me with her visiting a lot of churches.your totally wrong, there or some people who will put down others.Yes that's true. but not in my area of the country. In my life i NEVER heard ONE word against any minority's.or gays, coming from any of my people or preachers. my mother did say to stay away from evil people once.I believe many witches or evil ..perhaps not all of them though. But i didn't hear any bad words coming from my people, that's Grandparents uncles aunts cousins everyone, except my stupid brother,so your wrong .about us anyway.I was sexualy molested by a man when i was seven, not raped. it took many years to even get close to getting over that, but i do not hate all gays because of it, i was robbed and beaten baddly by some blacks ,i do not hate all blacks of course.if I do not forgive then God will not forgive me. I painted the entire church complex, Free for an all black congregation a few years ago.it took months part time to do it. this chruch is in my neighbourhood,Ipainted it a few months after i was beaten , ribs broke and a rib punctured my lung, it was terrible.Jesus said having love is the most emportant thing to have in us.
But some so called Christians do preach against others, I do not and my preacher doesnt.

Non accepting a lifestyle is not the same as hate.

As for other religions mathew wrote: 15"Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep's clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. 16By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles? 17Likewise every good tree bears good fruit, but a bad tree bears bad fruit. 18A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, and a bad tree cannot bear good fruit. 19Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. 20Thus, by their fruit you will recognize them.

As you saying that priests should not protect and advise their flock? As for the teaching of hate we have these quotes:
1"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.
and also: 43"You have heard that it was said, 'Love your neighbor[h] and hate your enemy.' 44But I tell you: Love your enemies[i] and pray for those who persecute you, 45that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous. 46If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? 47And if you greet only your brothers, what are you doing more than others? Do not even pagans do that? 48Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect.

It is clear the bible teaches us not to hate. But they are Christians who do, and they are hypocrites.

Well, young fella. In This world there is good, and then there is bad. With us or against us. But the Bible teaches to respect all.. and to live righteously.. Now that word, "righteouss" has nothing to do with HATE.. These churches that are wolves in sheeps clothing are of evil.. They may intend and/or appear to do good. But their way leads to destruction.. Kinda like enjoying the view after jumping off a cliff before you smack the ground and die!! And u might die in the air.
