You would lose your hair, your testicles would shrink, you would become mean, and you would get sick. Well maybe anyway. I wouldn't suggest taking steroids unless prescribed by your doctor.

In the UK at least no steroids can or should be available without a doctor's prescription. Unfortunately the net, which I love using, has however made a mockery of this.

It is fascinating to read the reassurances that there are no risks from anabolic steroids, displayed on sites that sell them. They have presumably never had a relative have an early stroke or heart attack.

Side effects of anabolic steroids include : raising blood pressure, raising cholesterol, (both of which increase cardiovascular disease), physical damage to the heart itself, premature baldness, liver damage, he formation of breast tissue in males, liver damage, impotence, shrinking of the testicles and infertility. Women can become hairy, develop a deep voice, and growth can be stunted in adolescents.

So if you would like to spend your life as a short bald guy with small testicles, boobs and impotence who has an heart attack, this is the way for you!

very, very little...steroids are not the magic pill that the media makes them out to be.

first you have to understand how anabolic and androgenic steroids differ. for the most part anabolic steroids increase nitrogen retention which increases muscle protein synthesis. androgenic steroids increase strength, the tighter that a steroid molecule binds to the androgenic receptor the great the strength gains and the greater the anti-catabolic effects.

when a muscle is stimulated via resistance training if the load used is sufficient enough to cause micro-trauma to muscle then that muscle with sufficient nutrients will increase in the cross-sectional area when it recovers (heals). if no load is placed on the muscle to cause trauma then there is no trauma and no reason for the muscle to adapt by increasing the cross-sectional area so there is no growth.

also when anabolic or androgenic steroids are administered there is a negative feedback response from the hypothalamus, pituitary testicular axis (HPTA). this causes the body to shutdown natural testosterone production. when the user comes off a steroid cycle if the proper steps are not taken to jump start the bodies natural test production cycle it can take many months for natural test levels to return to normal. this can cause a loss of lean body mass and strength to a level less than that before the steroid cycle was started.

I'm a nurse and steroids isn't good if you work out or not. They put large holes in your bones, please take care of your body, because you are so worth it. If you want to know if you would get fit/in shape, no. But you will have energy and would do some form of activity in turn build muscle mass. Also steroids have many dangerous side effects including mood swings and violent behavior. Take care and all the best.

The reason some take steroids is because they want to gain weight in a short period of time [for entering competition level for example] & just don't have the appetite it takes to do that.....obviously steroids increase the appetite & this enables them to eat the amount they need to...however they can't just eat what they like...that's not the weight increase they desire. the diet would have to be very controlled & full of muscle building foods...then of course they train like crazy because that's the objective & the steroids also give them the energy to be able to perform at the level they require......

Steroids don't make you full of muscles, They retain fluid, decrease the metabolism [making it harder to lose weight] & increase the appetite as I've already mentioned...they do promote the body in building bulk but not how most imagine....you would never get a muscle bound body or anything near a sixpack just by taking steroids....all you'd achieve is to gain a lot of weight....apart from all the other nasty side effects....There's a myth going around that steroids are what build muscle...it's not true...they just help someone to achieve a certain look for entering bodybuilding competitions in a much quicker time period.....the same amount of work needs to be done to build the body up.... it just brings about faster results, like it could be achieved in half the time as someone not taking steroids....so if someone wanting to enter a bodybuilding competition wanted to enter this year instead of say next year, they'd pump themselves full of steroids as an aid....the amounts of foods needed to be consumed in a short period of time couldn't be achieved by a normal guy with a normal appetite & would therefore take a lot longer.......but...they're really not worth the risk, when they were popular back in the 70's many body building competitors were dead by the age of 40 if not before, that's if they were the lucky ones....other's were left with lifelong illnesses & many years to reflect on the damage done to their former healthy bodies, brought on by the overuse of steroids.....remember bodybuilding is different to weight training.....there's no short cut to achieving a certain look with weights......it's all hard work & a lot of patience, not to mention the knowledge in order to know exactly how to go about it properly......
