It helps in later life - be it when you're on holiday, doing higher education or looking for a job. I know most universities now require that you take a second language before you can graduate. I also know from experience that knowledge of second languages score points during job interviews.

Even if you don't plan to visit a country in which English is not the primary language, one can obtain a great deal of knowledge about English vocabulary by learning another language. When I was in high-school, I had a choice of studying either Spanish (by far the most popular language among the students), French (a somewhat distant second), or Latin. Being something of an English language buff, I chose Latin because of its strict adherence to rules of grammar and because of the help it would give me building my vocabulary.

I was amazed when I discovered that many students in my class didn't know what a sentence subject, direct object or indirect object was. I noticed that at the end of 2 years, some of their grammar actually improved!

I believe that the more articulate a person is, the more likely he or she is to succeed in life.

Hi! My name is Hailey and I know two different languages. Here are the pro's:

1. It looks really good on a portfolio and it gives you a better chance of getting a job

2. You are more well-rounded

3. You can comunnicate with other cultures and travel to other places where you actually understand another language.

I know English and French. One day I plan to travel to France.

Bonne chance si vous allez apprendre une nouvelle langue!
That means "Good luck if you are going to learn a new language!"
