This may sound like a stupid question, but I've never been religiously aligned.
I was just wondering if you had to be a member of the catholic church to be able to go talk to a confessional guy.

Unfortunately non-Catholics may not receive legitimately receive any Catholic Sacraments except under extreme circumstances like danger of death.

Prior to receiving Confirmation and Eucharist in the process of coming into full communion with the Catholic Church, baptized persons do receive the sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession).

Non-baptized persons joining the Catholic Church usually receive Reconciliation for the first time one or two months after Baptism.

However a non-Catholic may talk to a priest about any issue in their life without receiving absolution.

With love in Christ.

In order to receive any sacrament offered through the Catholic church, you must be a catholic. Penance (also called reconciliation) is the sacrament received through confession.
However, priests are used to a non-catholic "trying out the feel of a confessional" every now and then. They normally ignore it, talk about your sins with you, and give you some kind of insight or "fake penance" They will not embarass you or "out" you as a non catholic.
Since the screened confessional has become less common, and most confession is done face to face today, this does not happen so much anymore.
Confession today usually has limited hours (some churches even require appointments....there goes the whole anonyminity), and so non catholics are less likely to go through all that trouble.
However, some of the older churches with older congregations that still use the old screened confessionals still get non-Catholics trying it out.

First, let's get the term right....one goes to confession in a confessional- the confessional is the room....

Only a Catholic can receive the Sacrament of Confession. Having said that, I can tell you my priest friends tell me they get a lot of non-Catholics on the other side of the screen. It isn't a celebration of the Sacrament, but they listen to the person, pray with them and offer them advice....same thing we do as Catholics, but the Catholics receive forgiveness from God during the sacrament.

One priest has even told me a Protestant minister regularly 'bares his soul' to the priest...who chuckles and asks him why he doesn't just become Catholic since he wants the Sacrament so badly!

Yes, you must be a Catholic in order to receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation. If you are considering becoming Catholic, talk to the local Catholic priest and he should set you up in an RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation) program. In the process, you will receive the Sacraments of Baptism (if necessary), Holy Eucharist, and Confirmation, in addition to Reconciliation.

The 'confessional guy' is a priest.

I would imagine that priests are willing to forgive the sins of all, but I'm not entirely sure.

<> Oral confession of sins is a factor of the Sacrament. you're making the errors of assuming your the worst sinner ever. you're actually not. you're additionally making the fake assumption that the priest has in no way heard a confession as "undesirable" as yours. incorrect returned. have confidence me; the priest has heard all of it, actually. he won't be bowled over by using something you tell him. do not forget approximately, clergymen would desire to bypass to Confession besides. They recognize the way it feels to be the single confessing, and how complicated this is each and every now and then. consequently, on each and every occasion somebody musters the braveness to make a solid confession, who greater useful to delight in the braveness it took than the priest who's listening to the Confession? he would be delighted which you got here across the braveness and the religion to make this form of confession. He is easily not indignant with you. "Be not afraid." << Is there any secrecy to confessional?>> specific. there's a demonstrate screen that forestalls you and the priest from seeing one yet another. he would be waiting to hearken to your voice, yet not see you. You SHOULD NOT CONFESS TO ANY MAN. ONLY GOD can forgive your sins.

God is made of 3 persons. The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. All 3 added together is God, BUT each one by THEMSELVES is God.

Every HUMAN is a SPIRIT, we have a SOUL and we live in a physical BODY. You are a spirit, you have a soul and your spirit and soul are inside your physical body. (It is your spirit and soul that goes to heaven, not your physical body).

It is impossible to please God without faith. 2000 years ago God sent His only Son (LOOK TO THE FIRST PARAGRAPH TO REALISE WHO THE SON ACTUALLY IS) to die for the sins of the whole world. We ALL inherited sin from Adam when SATAN deceived Adam to sin in the Garden of Eden. AND on top of that we ALL sin everyday. (There would be no such thing as sin in the world if Satan did not exist).

In the eyes of God - we are FILTHY SINNERS because ON TOP of inheriting sin from ADAM, Satan CONTINUOUSLY DECEIVES the world to sin. So EVERYBODY in this world is FULL OF SIN. God HATES SIN.

NO FILTHY SINNER can get into heaven. This is why God kicked Lucifer (who is Satan) out of heaven - He was a sinner. But God made a way for us to clean ALL our sins away and get into Heaven.

2000 years ago, God sent His ONLY SON JESUS CHRIST to die, SPECIFICALLY for YOU in order to "purchase" your FILTHY sins so that ALL your sins will be taken away. THREE days later, God RAISED Jesus Christ from the dead and Jesus went to heaven taking with Him all your FILTHY sins.
It says in the Word of God:

John 3:16
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotton Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life.

("Perish" in the above scripture means GO TO HELL).

THE ONE AND ONLY WAY to go to HEAVEN is to:
1. Say with you mouth and believe in your heart (your spirit) that Jesus Christ is your Lord and personal Saviour and that God raised Him from the dead taking away your sins.
2. Ask God to clean away your filth and take away ALL your sins.

When you do this by FAITH The Holy Spirit (LOOK TO THE FIRST PARAGRAPH TO REALISE WHO THE HOLY SPIRIT ACTUALLY IS) will LIVE inside your spirit and God will recognise you as one of His Children, and when you die you will go to Heaven.
