I have a hard bonnet dryer.
I use it for rollers, conditioning treatments and to process color. The soft ones, it seems would squish whatever it is you have on your head(rollers, ect.). And be harder to clean.

A hard bonnet hair dryer are the ones that you sit under and I like those alot better than the soft ones. The reason is with the soft bonnet hair dryers the elastic always leaves a mark on my forehead after I take the bonnet off my head. I haven't used a hair dryer like those in years. I use a blow dryer for my hair.

A hard bonnet dryer is just that - the part that comes down over your head is hard - usually made of the same material casing the rest of the dryer. A soft bonnet dryer is also just what it sounds like - it is a soft plastic hood that the hose of the dryer connects to in the back and you then place the soft bonnet over your head - similar to a shower cap.

hard bonnets are the ones like in salons that you sit under to dry your roller set hair and will always be more efficient than soft bonnet dryers that you put over your rollers and hold in place with elastic bands as they take much longer to dry your set and soft bonnet hoods do not stretch enough to cover jumbo sized rollers

They are the same thing! The bonnet is one that you can move about a bit 'cause it is on your head! I have both but use the bonnet more often.
