possibility that man evolved rather than was created, have they received a "NEW LIGHT" from God?

We hear so much about what people think about certain religions who may have had a "New Light" and have left behind beliefs that they feel do not match the Bible. Yet, those making the use of more common Bibles are finding that these issues are not as clear cut as previously thought. Have they seen a "New Light" and why aren't the rest of us seeing it?

(I'm re-posting this here as I had placed it in the wrong category earlier.)

Maybe, maybe not. Maybe they are trying to fit in as most other religions and denominations don't accept them. Who knows. Never been a church like that.

Churches who endorse such things are interpreting the Bible to their beliefs and convenience. When it is all said and done, they can say they honestly 'didn't know' and were left in the dark and should not have to pay for their sins.

Any more of the modern Bibles that are written with 'new' meanings are purposly written that way for people who cannot handle 'God's Laws.'

There is no NEW LIGHT, and even as much as I do not hold my faith being based in the Cahran (sp), the Islamic or I should say, the glorified Islam religion does NOT change the issues of this nature.

The only place I can see women in religion, are as Nuns, within the Catholic Church. And if you've noticed recent photo's of them, many have gone back to wearing their 'habbits' as they used to back in the early days, before the church told them they could wear street clothes. Of course the reason for the habbit what part of the vow of Chastity, which Nuns do take. They are married, but married to 'God'...meaning they are virgins who have given their lives over to the Lord, our God.

I do possess the older versions of the Bible, from 'pre-50's' era. Anything that has been changed, has been done recently. These people re-write and believe according to their own 'wishes and ill-thought out desires' so they can live a life they choose. They don't THINK God is looking, listening or judging what they say and do. But let me tell you... HE IS keeping score.

This is why I cannot or will not subscribe to the 'politically correct' ways of this nation. I was born, baptised, confirmed and taught in the 'old Roman Catholic' ways, which used to be respected by ALL. We are staunch belivers in the ways of Jesus, and HE did not teach that 'alternative sex' practices were okay with Him...our Father or the Holy Spirit. By doing such, these people will be judged by their own sinful acts.

I can not speak for the churches that ordain homosexual pastors or endorse homosexual marriages.
But I will try to answer your question about women as spiritual leaders. My first question would be what is the definition of a sermon?
If the definition is the telling of the gospel ( the good news that Jesus Christ is alive) than who was the first person that told the good news? Mary Magdalene by def. she would have preached the very first sermon. Did Jesus make a mistake revealing himself first to a women? Of course not.
Who was the first gentile Evangelist? --Samaritan women at the well.
Wasn't Debra a judge and a prophetess?
What about all of the heads of churches that Paul commends who were women?
What about Phebe who was a deaconess of the church at Cenchrea?
I could go on and on. Combine the way that Jesus treated women (honored, loved revered, respected) with the culture of the times and it makes these passages even more amazing. This would lead me to the conclusion that as far as women and church leadership it is not "new light" at all.
We all have to come to our own conclusions. But I know that God called me-- a women to preach the good news and shepherd His flock. And I take my orders from God first and my husband second. Funny thing --God actually revealed my calling to my husband before he revealed it to me. So if I disobeyed God and my husband wouldn't that also go against what a lot of people believe?

Judaism sees it as the obligation of each generation to make Torah meaningful in their lives and changing situations. It's a dynamic tradition. The prohibition on a man lying with a man perhaps made more sense when reproduction was crucial for group survival (women's purity laws all point towards that). In an over-populated world, that no longer makes sense and many Jewish groups are comfortable with homosexuality.

If Christianity is adamant that it came from Judaism, why does that vital aspect of our tradition have to be left out? The sects of Christianity that insist on unchanging literalness are killing their religion.

This is typically for the false religion. The Bible says in Timothy 3:1-5 "But know this, that in the last days critical times hard to deal with will be here. For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, self-assuming, haughty, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, disloyal, having no natural affection, not open to any agreement, slanderers, without self-control, fierce, without love of goodness, betrayers, headstrong, puffed up [with pride], lovers of pleasures rather than lovers of God, having a form of godly devotion but proving false to its power; and from these turn away."

I can't speak for all religions that may do that but for my own, we don't believe that the Bible is the word of God and therefore we have no new light on what it says. It's just not a book we follow.

We do not believe in sin nor do we believe that homosexuality is wrong. We follow the teachings of Jesus and other great moral leaders. We believe that all people have worth and dignity and that homosexuals are simply born with different desires. It is not our place to judge that one preference is any better or more natural than another.

Gay people have always been welcomed at my church. Gay people, women and men are all welcome clergy members.

We can't imagine that God would discriminate.

God is the same as he has always been. There is no new light. The evil of man twists the word of God for their own benefit.

You seem stuck in a cycle of circular reasoning. It goes like this; the Bible says that the Bible is true, therefore the Bible must be true.

Here's another circle: The Bible must be interpreted literally, even though Fundamentalists reserve the right to cherry-pick which parts they will interpret, and which parts they will ignore.

In fact, all religious documents must be interprted, and that interpretation is always subjective and personal. If you choose to embrace a pre-decided conclusion about the meaning and relevence of the Bible to your life, more power to you.

But it's difficult to see how it can be your business, to interfere with how other people or churches interpret things for themselves.

If you don't like how they do it, too bad. Just climb into your Middle Ages Time Machine, and go back to sleep, ok?

You don't win any spiritual poitns for mocking people's spirituality, even if you were correct, and you aren't. Truly spiritual people don't attack other people -- to attack other people is to admit that your God is too weak to be persuasive, at best.

Maybe if you pray to your God, your god will provide you with a little 'Light' of your own. good luck.

Hopefully people are waking up to reality and common sense. That would include seeing a new light for some of the more ignorant.

The best example of a new light is scientific knowledge, which has advanced a bit since the bible was reduced to paper. For example, we now know that mankind evolved from earlier anthropoid species, and that many of the biblical tales of creation, the flood, and much else are fictitious.

These Churches are not of the Family of God and I strongly suggest not attending them since they contradict God's Word, the Bible. If they do error in the simplest doctrine, what else could they be wrong in.
