some, but what you need to do is develop your fast twitch muscle fibres, do a google search on these.

for pure strength you want low reps below 6, endurance 15 plus. Anything between will add some strength and endurance but also bulk, which is not always ideal.

Hill efforts are better. 5-10 up a constant 400m , with rests walking back down. first 2-3 are warm ups, stretching between. the later ones max efforts. Recover should be 2-3 mins.

yeah....if its for running though you may actually want to look into doing more Hamstring work than quad work
Deadlifts/Good mornings/lunges are great exercises

If you want to develop explosiveness try jump squats too....explosive lifting is also good....meaning that you do the 'positive' part of the exercise as fast as you can(while staying in control, always being the most important part) and the 'negative' portion in a slow controlled manner

I still recon that prunes and liquorice give you a definite explosive edge
