I have recently gotten into downhill/alpine skiing. I am wondering what equipment should you have to ski comfortably, and also, if you have any, tips for skiing and getting better at it. Any websites with any of this would be helpful as well.
Thanks for your time!

A list of what I take skiing (I'm 13 and have been skiing for 11 years):
- long underwear (base layer for both top and bottom)
- fleece shirt
- pair of ski pants (if you don't have ski pants, sweat pants will do, but you look the best in tan ski pants :])
- jacket (be fashionable. there is nothing dorkier than an 80's ski jacket)
- ski socks (or thick, long socks that go up to the top of your boot)
- boots (you can rent them if you want)
- skis (you can rent these, too)
- poles (again, you can rent these)
- helmet / hat (i prefer a helmet because it is MUCH safer and keeps your head much warmer than a hat)
- goggles (or if it's warm, sunglasses)

Hope this helps!

Some good ski equipment websites:

www.ebay.com
www.steepandcheap.com (one item per day and AWESOME deals)

You need skis, gloves, goggles, hat, waterproof pants/ jacket, thick socks, and ski boots. If you are a beginner, I wouldn't suggest poles-it's easier for most people to learn without them. Also, if you plan on falling a lot, I definetly recommend a helmet. Also, sunscreen is a really good idea because like when you swim, the sun is reflected off the water and onto your skin. This applies for snow-it is really quite easy to get burned up on the mountians if the suns out!
Have fun with the wonderful spring skiing!

It all really depends where and when you are skiing. In the middle of winter u might want to dress in more clothes then the spring. No two models of skiies are the same your best chance would be to talk to a person a ski shop and they can find whats best such as a a racer would not want freestyle trick skiies because it would slow them down. Research where you will ski most for best results.

I genuinely have been using and abusing K2 products considering the fact that 1990. different than for K2, I genuinely have used Dynastar (back in the day while they made first rate race skis) and Volant, that are nevertheless super skis, yet relatively heavy because of the metallic shape. Head, Atomic, Rossignol, and Salomon are all stunning possibilities for All-Mountain Skis and K2, G3, and Black Diamond make stunning skis for the backcountry. in case you like racing skis, Atomic is a thank you to circulate. individually, i do no longer ski freestyle, yet I additionally like K2 (and Line...owned by technique of K2) while it includes freestyle skis. Marker and Salomon bindings are often the superb. I nevertheless want Salomon Alpine boots, yet have not offered new ones in years. i exploit Garmont boots now particularly because of the fact I i ski telemark sort. Garmont additionally makes freeride and alpine traveling boots for time-honored skis to boot.
