Actually, there's no reason why the Amish couldn't visit a public library to put up a website, even though this one appears to be the work of others in the Lancaster area.

They may not drive cars and own phones, but they accept rides from neighbors and use telephones that belong to others. Just because they choose not to live with today's luxuries doesn't mean that they aren't allowed to utilize them when necessary.

What better way to teach others about your way of life and to dispel myths than by using the internet? Upon reaching adulthood, Amish children are sent out into the world to experience our way of life, and are allowed to leave the community after having done so. I'm quite positive these young adults would use the internet just as we do.

It's not an Amish web site.
It's a Lancaster County web site with information ABOUT the Amish. Even the information about the Amish was provided by a Memonite information center.

An Amish could not have possibly made the website but it was made by someone who thinks they know an awful lot about the Amish.

What's your problem with the Amish? They're people just like you and me. They have the capacity to think and reason just like everyone else. The website you provided is merely an information center where people can learn about the Amish people and their culture. I suggest you read it before you judge them. Have a nice day.

Those are the more modern Amish, who have electricity and telephones.

The Amish that live up-state from me, however, do not. They are still on 'candle power' and will NOT associate themselves with the more modern Amish.

If you look at the second paragraph, it says "our amish neighbors". It looks to me that someone not of the amish created the site.

But, at first glance, it is humorous.

LOL!

I gather that it's not really the Amish who run the site, since it says "Our Amish neighbors"
