I think if a police department is located in an area with a high percentage of people who don't speak or read English readily should learn to speak the language of the population.

Not just Spanish but any language that predominates their territory.

If you can't communicate with the populace, you just become a big guy in a uniform with a big stick and a gun.

No, I think everyone else should be made to speak English. 100 years ago, when my great grandfather came to this country, It was his goal to speak English. Yes this country is a melting pot of all cultures. It used to be all the cultures melting into this country strove to speak English so everyone could communicate. In today's p.c. society everyone kowtows to the immigrants and now we have literally hundreds languages/dialects. If no one can understand anyone else, how will we ever succeed as a nation? Until we start becoming a Human Race we are doomed to fail.

No, they must speak English. The citizens of this country should speak English, even the illegal ones. If an officer comes into contact with a suspect that only speaks Spanish, the officer should proceed with caution and detain the suspect until their involvement and identification can be determined. Los Angeles and the rest of California is overrun with Mexican nationals because of absurdity like this and the notion that we, American citizens, should cater to them.

it would be "soy rubia" (if youre a girl) "soy rubio" (if youre a guy) estoy skill i'm, regardless of the undeniable fact that that's extra of a state of being rather than somewhat being. to be= "ser" o "estar" which one you utilize somewhat relies upon on the context. I propose thus you ought to assert "estoy rubia" yet which would be extra of a brief element... like "i went out on the sunlight and my hair unexpectedly have been given lighter!" yet that isn't be best and doesnt even make sense besides. "tengo pelo rubio" actually skill "I somewhat have blonde hair" thus rubio is being an adjective describing the hair and for this reason its an o as a replace of a reason hair is masculine... (no longer that hair is a guy's element, however the word is given which you're taking spanish you ought to already understand that some words are female (l. a., -a) and a few masculine (el, -o)) desire that helped! :)

No, I worked a town in Arizona and I did not need spanish. The Hispanics in the area were more apt not to be cooperative with people of hispanic descent who did not speak spanish than with an anglo like me. I got along just fine.

If someone really spoke no English, we had enough guys who spoke. Most guys carried their cell phones and we could have another cop talk to them over the phone. It really didin't happen as much as you might think.
