Like in the movie/book "Zodiac". How many years of schooling? How much to they make yearly?

Normally, it takes 7 to 10 years experience of patrol work before an individual is ready to assume the role of detective. Good detectives have certain abilities at communication and empathy working with the public.

The job goes to the most promising officers, the cream of the crop. To be named detective is a proud moment in an officer career.

The number of years in school counts for little as a police detective. What is of primary improtance is street smarts, and investigative techniques learned from years as a street cop.Salary depends on where you work.

The dept I used to work for required min college degree, a specific number of POST training hours and 5 years as a officer to sit for the promotion boards.

And seldom would you get it on your first time testing
