I mean the skin? I know someone who has this. and pus drains from it all the time. What to do, he has no insurance or anything?

Insurance or not he needs to see a dentist asap! Work out some payment plan or something, you can't leave that infection in yur body for it can later cause more major health problems, please make him or her see a dentist immediately.

Yes. An abscess will drain either intra orally (gum boil) or extra orally. It is basically the infection from the necrotic tooth finding a way out. Cheapest thing to do is get the tooth extracted. 75-100 dollars. You should probably take care of that soon. If it is an abscess and it is coming out of the chin, it is one of the lower incisors and that should not be complicated to remove. However if it is a permanent tooth you will see it. If you are concerned about money, there are public health clinics that will pull your tooth for free. If you are near a dental school they will charge a fee but it will be about 1/2 to 1/3 the cost of private practice.
