M-16

2007-03-11 09:07:12 · answer #1 · answered by Bear 3 · 1 0

It depends on where you are fighting. If I am in the desert where I am engaging targets at 300m, I want a rifle with the accuracy of the m-16. My problem with the M-16 is actually the cheap gunpowder used in the rounds. When I plan a range for my unit, I figure that by the time the second firing orders starts I will have about 4-5 weapons malfunctioning due to carbon.

(We have 80 weapons. Approximately 58-116 rounds fired by the end of the second firing order).

In jungle terrain I would want something like the Ak-47.
the AK does not jam, rust shut, get rounds deflected by small branches and is all around more durable.

M-16's jam very easily and require constant maintenance. AK's don't require as much care, but they are not as accurate. An M-4 is pretty much the same as an M-16, except for a few minor differences in the stock. Then there's the SAW (squad automatic weapon) which is fully automatic vs. the three round burst of M-16/M-4's. I have had little experience with other rifles besides the M-16 and M-4 though, so my vote goes to the M-4.

M-16

The AK47 is probably the most notorious. It is a very reliable weapon, great takedown, but lacks accuracy.
The M16/M4 is probably the best over all weapon. the M4 is lighter than the M16 and doesn't lose too much in the way of range. It is very accurate and has decent takedown power. The M4's adjustable stock makes it very suitable for use with body armor, and there are tons of accessory attachments available to further suit combat needs.

The MP5 is an awesome weapon. I like it for police and tactical use. The take down power is somewhat limited, but made up for by the rate fo fire and controlability. the MP5 definitly could not be used effectively as a general combat weapon, lack of range and takedown.

Overall the M4 is the best combat weapon in my opinion. I have fired dozens of rifles and am still most impressed by the M4. Glad to have it as my weapon.

MP-5

Carried by the best of the best in the military.

If you want true rifle then I guess there is only one choice the M-16.

The M-4 is technically a carbine and the MP-5 is a submachine gun.

Internationally nothing is better then an AK-47 but that isn't a true rifle either.

For sniper rifles my vote goes to the M-14. 50 years old this year and STILL the weapon of choice.

An AK-47 is an amazing weapon for use as general suppression of fire, although I think it is not so accurate as an M-16 series or the M16 clones.

What military and others' like about AKs is that they can get dust, mud, water on them and they are relatively easy to clean, they don't jam as easily as the M16s.

You didn't say choice for what. If I were sniping, I'd want the Marine standard sniping rifle.

Well, for actual military service, durability, dependability, and working in all weather conditions, the AK-47 is most likely the best. Easier to manufacturer than the M-16 or its cousins.
Ballistics are not the best but the target probably doesn't care if the projectile is .22, .27, .30, or .32. Besides, with today's urban warfare mode, super long range isn't needed.

Design and simplicty as well as interchangeable parts, and the ability to function no matter the environment, I would say the AK47. This weapon can be buried in mud, cleaned off and still fire. The parts are interchangeable with any other AK47 and that means every part. The M16A2 is an excellent weapon, however it has to be continually cleaned and very well maintained. The weight factor goes to the M16A2 as it's appx. 7.8 lbs. The knockdown power goes to the AK47 as it fires a 7.62mm round. My preference would be the AK47.

M16 is the most recognized and generally the best. The M4 is looking like a good contender, after the M16s 40 year reign
