Ok here's the deal, u need a good shiner, but with most types u only need to use a very small amount. I am a must-have-shiny-hair guru and here is my top suggestions:
1. Biosilk- works GREAT but use a very small amount (dime size)
2. if Biosilk is too pricey (and i have that problem too) try using KMS's version its works about the same with half the price, its just hard to find
3. The ultimate low cost, look great, smell good with shiny hair is: Garnier Fructis Smoothing Balm!!!! I LOVE IT!!
Beware is u use too much your hair looks wet. the fix- little less than a quarter for longer, thicker hair and less than that for shorter, thiner hair
help this helps and never be afraid to shiny up that beatiful hair girl, everyone looks more confident wit shiny hair!!!!

Ok, so here's the deal. The shaft of your hair is covered in tiny little overlapping cuticles that look like scales. They should lie down flat, and when they do, they will reflect the light and make your hair really shine. Over time the cuticles become damaged and make your hair dull. There are a number of things you can try, both hair products and styling techniques.

1) When you rinse the conditioner out of your hair, use water as cold as you can stand. Heat opens the cuticles, and cold seals them, making them lie down flat.

2) If you blow dry your hair, blast it with the cold setting when you are done, same thing, seals the cuticles promoting shine.

Some products I like for shine are:

Procclaim Glossing Polish, it's a serum you put in your hands and smooth through your hair.

John Freida makes a glossing polish as well, but it is more expensive for the same effect.

My favourite is Got2Be Dazzling shine spray.

If you straighten your hair, here's what I do for straight, super shiny hair:

After washing, my hair, I towel dry until it's just damp, then I spray it with Beyond the Zone Protein Cocktail and comb it thorugh with a wide tooth comb. Then I apply Beyond the Zone Split Mender to the ends of my hair to fix split ends (this is a temporary fix). I then let my hair air dry for about 20 minutes, then I put Stiff @#!% Bored Straight frizz control and straightening balm throughout my hair. I section it with clips, and blow dry each section pulling it straight with a flat brush. I use the hot setting to dry, and then switch to cool. When it is dry I section it off again, and spray each section with Beyond the Zone Flat Iron Protector and smooth each section with my hair straightener. When that's done, I use Procclaim glossing polish and comb it through. Then I style my hair however I wanted and spray it with Got2be Dazzling shine spray... it takes a long time but I produces that super shiny look, without looking or feeling greasy or oily.

(just so you know, Beyond the Zone hair products are only available at Sally Beauty, the rest are at Shoppers, Wal mart, etc).

The bottom line is, no shampoo or conditioner is gonna get your hair shiny like the commercials, it takes a lot of work to get that look.

Chi silk infusion will really give you shine but its expensive. Have you tried Jon Freida frizz ease? Cuz the shine serum from that is great. Basically any shine serum you get will give you shine

I use Sunsilk shampoo for split ends. [It's in the pink bottle]. Even though the shampoo is made for split ends, I get a better shine with this stuff that I do with the Sunsilk Shampoo made for shine.

Good Luck!
