Yes I do. It's an NIV, and it was a gift from someone in this forum who is a very dear friend. He asked if I would read it, and out of respect for him I have been doing exactly that. No gold trimmed pages.

I own three Bibles (used to have around a dozen or so different versions for comparative work), one does have fancy gold-trimmed pages. I also have a koine NT and half of Torah in Hebrew photocopied for class. (Hebrew Bibles are really expensive, so we just had to buy the BDB.)

I also own a copy of The Origin of Species, complete with ribbon and gold trim. But that's because I really like the size of the Collector's Library editions and the way they sit in the hand.

It's not my Bible, or a contributor to my lack of belief in "God", nor is evolution my religion. It's a natural process that I find an interesting study. Please don't encourage the fundies in their claims that it is. My religion is Judaism, I know the difference.

Atheist

I have 2 bibles, one a KJV and the other in Modern English. Both are basic cheapo versions, no fancy leather binding and gold trimmed pages.

I do own a worn out paperback copy of Origin of Species, but it isn't my bible, and evolution isn't my religion.

I usually use an online bible when looking for a verse, they are much easier to search. Either Bible Gateway or the Skeptics Annotated Bible.

I used to have one with the fancy gold-trimmed pages and little place holder ribbons attached to the binding. I was about 7 years old at the time. Thank god I grew up a bit since then and learned to think for myself.

Well, I think I owned a Bible at one point in time, but it was a Children's version...

I have one or two of them in my house, but I haven't gotten around to actually reading one of them yet. I believe one of them does have the "fancy, gold-trimmed pages," though.

Yeah, I have 3. But none of them have gold pages...As an atheist, I personally feel you have to read the bible so you can competently argue theology. You have to understand the mind of the enemy in order to make a successful attack in a war, right? Same thing.

I did own a bible and I actually read it too. Best fiction book I ever read, oh and the pages weren't gold-trimmed either.

Several.
No gold leaf, they're all rather battered and used.

And you treat The Origin of Species as a bible..?
Now that's worrying. We've discovered so much more since then.

Sure, and I have about six or seven different versions, even one with gold trim. They are sitting right next to all the other books about myths.
