AMANDA,
PUBLIC AID ONLY PAYS FOR VERY LIMITED PROCEDURES FOR CROWNS IN CHILDREN.
ADULTS DO NOT QUALIFY FOR CROWN COVERAGE.
IF YOUR TEETH ARE IN POOR CONDITION, THEY SHOULD BE REPAIRED - NOT EXTRACTED.

The medical card covers crowns in certain instances. You must have the office submit a TAR(Treatment Authorization Request) He should know that. It covers anterior crowns. He is correct in it may cover the posterior crowns. If you are in a bind for money for your care, see if there is a clinic in your town that operates on a fee schedule. Usually the front desk girls at any office know if one exists. There are also dental schools that need people to do work on. Do you live near one? There are churches that help people in need with medical and dental soem even run there own clinics where all you have to do un order to be seen is not have insurance. If you can't find a person who knows, look up the dentall association number (either online or in a phone book and ask them.) Partials can be made for the back teeth at a much cheaper cost. Sadly, dentistry is expensive. One more thought. Some dentists trade work for work, can you do their cleaning, mow their lawn , run their errands? If you write a letter and mail it to all the dentists with a contact number you may get lucky. If you do not take care of your teeth, even if you crown them, you can still loose them. Please start a regiment of brushing three times a day for at least 2-3 minutes each time and floss daily. If you aren't willing to do that- don't waste your money on the crowns.

I am a bit confused on your question, but will try to help you. Medical card being your insurance? If this is the case I highly suggest that you call your insurance company or switch to another insurance. It is very odd that an insurance company would not allow this. If it is the case, you can go to a local bank and apply for a loan. Get a loan to cover the amount needed for the crowns and then be sure to pay the bank back or you will not be able to apply for any future loans. Before you go to the bank though get a 2nd opinion from another dentist, then call your insurance company.

Absolutely, do not extract your teeth if they are saveable! Go get a 2nd opinion from a different dentist and see what they say. Maybe you can work out some kind of payment plan. You do not want to lose your teeth especially at such a young age. Get a 2nd opinion...
