Maybe buy a guitar book...
or you can also start learning Tabs to songs.

I learned by teaching myself tabs to other songs. =)

Learn the parts of the guitar.
Then learn which strings are which. EADGBE
How to tune it.
Learn which fret/string will make what notes.
Then start learning chords and how to strum them.
If you don't want to learn on your own, then look in the phone book for music stores or someone that gives lessons.
Good luck and most of all,
KEEP PRACTICING.
Look thru this site, there's lots of info there.

I learned by practicing Lord of the Dance (2 chords) over and over and over and over... my family tell me I drove them crazy! I moved on to a few more chords later and made quite a good living busking in Dublin. My son learned by mastering every chord in the handbook. His way was better than mine and he is now an amazing guitarist. However, the advice that came before mine is far better than either of these methods.
