At what age do children hit puberty? Is it different than it use to be? My children seem closer to puberty than I was at their age (7&8). And I started my period when I was 11!!!! My son is 8 yrs. old and his voice has started to sound like it's changing! Is that normal?! I wasn't sure if kids are just developing maturity earlier or what! My daughter also seems to be having hormonal issues... She is seven and I use to kid with my husband sometimes saying she sounds like she's about to start her period! I heard a while back about the hormones they've been putting in beef and other food products. Could this really have something to do with it? Could our young children really be approaching puberty sooner?! I just wanted to know if I'm alone in this or are there more parents out there that have noticed this in their children.?!

My girls have started puberty younger than I did too. My 9 year old has been wearing a bra for 2 years now. My doctor said its because of all the added hormones that they add to meats such as chicken. I get the whiney attitude every month from my 9 and 10 year olds like clock work! So no you are not alone.

Since each child is different you can't go by when you reached puberty. My daughter was 9 when she entered the first phase of puberty. I was 10...my sister on the other hand was 15, my cousin had just turned 8. ALL children develop differently at different stages in their lives. That is the way it always has been...always will be that way.

It's normal. My son is 8 and he has the body odor starting already. Bathing doesn't seem to help, he smells 10 minutes afterwards. He is using deodorant (NOT anti-perspirant) and that kinda helps. His doctor said most boys start puberty at around 8 or 9, although we might not see it on the outside yet. My daughter is also 7 and I swear I see breast buds!!! AAHHH - I feel ya!

yes children in america are reaching puberty earlier
some of it is due to obesity
