I have a computer I dearly love, for some reason, all of a sudden the color went a rather ickie pea green yellowish, thought it was the monitor, changed PC's and the monitor is just fine, so, nope, it is the computer, I tried to download a recovery disc and it tells me that the hard drive disc was not found, so action was aborted, however, I am using it just fine now on the net.,e-mail and all other info seems to be there and it still works great, but a horrible color, does anyone know what this is and how to get rid of it ? Goodness, thanks to all for any help !!

Sounds to me like the video card may be going bad. That happened to my parents' computer a couple of years ago. I checked everything out and determined it to be the video card. I replaced it for them, and that fixed the problem.

The only possible problems are A) the video card died, B) the connection cord to the monitor/PC isnt all the way in or is damaged internally, or C) something is wrong with the physical hardware on your motherboard. Try checking the cables first and making sure they are in correctly. If the problem persists, change the cable to a new one. If its still there, swap out the video card (if its not a built in one), and if that doesnt work you have larger problems. =(

In the case of a built-in video card, borrow a friends video card to see if it solves your problem by installing it in the correct slot. Download and install the drivers. Restart. If it persists, Im sorry but you have a much larger issue at hand that requires someone to physically inspect your computer.

Good Luck

There are 3 possibilities:
1. Configuration settings. You or someone in your house has changed the settings. To change them back, Right click a blank spot on your computer and select properties. Go to settings tab. Colors can be changed on the appearance tab, by clicking advanced.
2. Hardware. You could have a problem with your video card.
3 . Software/drivers. You may need to reinstall the video card drivers. It is also possible that you have malware and that a virus is doing its damage.

What I would do if I were you is right-click on my desktop background and select Properties. From here, go to the Settings tab and click the Advanced button. There should now be a special tab of some kind that your graphics card manufacturer has supplied. If you don't see a special tab with a custom logo on it, download the latest drivers for your video card. If you see the tab, click on it and look for some kind of color correction option. You should be able to slide down the green value.

sounds more like your video card went bad. They are pretty cheap to replace now so try that. (get at least a 128 mb video card)

May be that your VGA card is shot. The link below will tell you how to install a new one. Frankly, if this happened to me, I would take my computer to a professional.

Try this, do you remember when it started acting up ? Go to start, then help, type in restore, and restore it to a date before you had this problem Let me know how that works.
