Who believes that they are brainwashed?
I do...
Ok...I might make some generalizations but I am fed up with this crazy conservative Christians...
They don't think for themselves and all they do it quote the bible for everything.
They're little sheep for the government. They support the war...yet they believe killing is a sin?
They judge EVERYONE...yet they say only God can judge them?
They don't believe in Global Warming??!!!
Those ministers that run those super churches...they live lavish lifestyles and ask that poor evangelicals send them all the money they have in the name of the lord...so that they can live comfortably in their multi-million dollar houses. Poor people that need to pay for perscription drugs or can barely put food on the table send thousands of dollars to these frauds.
They are live in a little nutshell filled only with perverse translations of the Bible and never base anything on fact...all their "opinions" are what they were taught from the ministers... etc etc...

I am a gnostic christian and a theosophist. I like Christianity in general...but Evangelicals take the cake for craziness.

The generalizations came from Jesus Camp...its scary.

I also know people who are Evangelicals and we've have numerous arguments...

You certainly hit the nail on the head for what is called "Christiandom"...the Bible warns about this, and Jesus even taught his followers that they received free and should give free. Never was it meant for churches to be set up like they are today, with a small clergy class, and members who sat in pews and listened...this is what Jesus commanded his followers to do...

Matthew 28:19,20: "Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded YOU. And, look! I am with YOU all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.”

(observe in this role, means to take action, to adhere to...to pay special attention to)

2 Timothy 4:3 & 4: "For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled; 4 and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories."

The Bible also refers to some of these evangelicals as:
"oppressive wolves will enter in among YOU and will not treat the flock with tenderness, 30 and from among YOU yourselves men will rise and speak twisted things to draw away the disciples after themselves."

You are so right about so many of the so-called main-stream heads of churches, and religious movements, they are in it for big bucks. That is why the Bible refers to them as a part of "Babylon the Great" and "the Harlot that sits upon the beast"(political governments)

Revelation 18: 2-5; "And he cried out with a strong voice, saying: “She has fallen! Babylon the Great has fallen, and she has become a dwelling place of demons and a lurking place of every unclean exhalation and a lurking place of every unclean and hated bird! 3 For because of the wine of the anger of her fornication all the nations have fallen [victim], and the kings of the earth committed fornication with her, and the traveling merchants of the earth became rich due to the power of her shameless luxury.”
4 And I heard another voice out of heaven say: “Get out of her, my people, if YOU do not want to share with her in her sins, and if YOU do not want to receive part of her plagues. 5 For her sins have massed together clear up to heaven, and God has called her acts of injustice to mind."

The Bible gives us this very sound advice, and it is vital that we follow it to make sure of what is the truth, and not the false docrtrines that man has made up to control the masses and dishonor God!........

1 John 4:1: "Beloved ones, do not believe every inspired expression, but test the inspired expressions to see whether they originate with God, because many false prophets have gone forth into the world."

Oh, cut us some slack, will you? You've got enough generalizations in that post to supply the Pentagon for the next twenty years.

The church I belonged to before we moved had maybe 75 people, tops. And none of us were rich, by any means. In one year's time, that little church raised $20,000 to buy medicine, food, and educational supplies for our sister church in El Salvador.

That was in addition to the time and money donated to the local homeless shelter, the food bank, and the soup kitchen. And whenever there was an emergency in the parish, people could be counted on to feed the family, take someone to doctor's appointments, and provide whatever help the person needed.

Community emergency -- same story. The people of St. Mary's were there to help. I've seen our pastor reach into his pocket and give money to a homeless man who was hungry and needed food. If someone needed medicine or food or any other kind of help, the parish was there for them.

So please spare me the "living in a little nutshell" routine. There are plenty of Christians who love Jesus and follow His teachings by showing compassion to those in need. If that's brainwashing, then this planet could use a whole lot more brainwashed people to relieve the suffering all around us!

I am, perhaps, the most qualified to answer this as I am a Christian Preacher, writer and Evangelist.
It may be that I quote from the King James version of the Bible but after I have laid the basis of my dissertation I bring that verse to bare in this day and age.
I, personally, never support war because all it does is create dead people on both sides of an issue. there are other ways to counter terrorism.
I judge no one, I may, if they ask, tell them what they are doing is a sin according to the Word of God.
I may not agree with their decision concerning God but it's their choice and all choices have consequences.
Why would I deny Global Warming?
It may be a threat to mankind but it most certainly isn't a threat to my beliefs in God.
I work a full time job, overtime included, to support my family.
I have never taken one red cent from the Church or any member of a Church.
I don't even have a donate button on my web-site.
http://www.anchorpoint.org
I'm not about money, judgment or power.
I'm about sharing the Word of God with all that are seeking HIM.
It was freely given to me and I freely give it.

This is a good question. My mother at one point in time was a member of the church and she couldn't even pay her gas bill because she was giving her money to the church which to me was the last straw. I pulled her out of the church because of that. She still believes in God and Christ but she doesn't attend church anymore. That was one of many reasons why I lost faith and have left the religion and church myself. I couldn't take all of the garbage that went down between all of the hypocrisy and whatnot. There was this one pastor who used to preach about the love God and then go home and beat his wife and step kids. I was a part of a church that is Fundamentalist/Evangelical. So I speak the truth no matter who believes me or not.

Brainwashed? If you think the Christians are brainwashed you obviously don't know anything about the Mormon religion. Now that's a group of people who are brainwashed by their religion.
I am a Christian, I can think for myself. Yes, I enjoy reading and learning from the Bible. I don't judge anyone. You can do anything you want,if it comes back to bite you on the butt, you will have no one else to blame but yourself.

Wait a minute. I'm not brainwashed....and I may be a crazy conservative Christian but I'm not a sheep for the government. I pray for my friends who have gone to war. And my church, isn't a super church and probably never will be.....and I study lots of translations of the Bible and find out for myself what's true and don't just accept my ministers' opinions but check it out in the Bible to see if what they're saying is true.

because of the fact it replaced into the Catholic Church that assembled and codified the Bible, i do no longer understand why Protestants think of that they recognize plenty greater approximately Scripture than we Catholics do. All that Protestants did replaced into to cut out the climate that they did no longer like or could no longer twist to in nice condition their heretical concepts. And in case you have have been given a undertaking with the assumption of eternal punishment for rejecting Christ's salvation, then you certainly could desire to take it up with Him. he's the single that stated eternal torment, and the Church bases the perception in Hell on His teachings. by the form, Catholics don't think that all people is going to Heaven after a stint in Purgatory. in case you have rejected Christ, you will Hell. Purgatory is for people who've believed in Jesus for salvation yet who nonetheless have lingering attachments to sin or worldly issues. Oh, and with regard to the brainwashing ingredient -- I switched over to Catholicism after years of examining and reading. i recognize what i've got faith and why i've got faith it. are you able to assert the comparable ingredient approximately your very own ideals?

You've described your own American Culture. If I dress like a sheep, doesn't mean I follow Christ. Who owns TV, or Newspapers, or tells people what to believe? Me or Oprah, one of the other clever American billionaires.

Whose brainwashed?

So, you are offering your opinions based on fact, right? You've read the Bible. You understand it from cover to cover, right? God doesn't need defending. When you have all the facts, when you can demosnstrate that you are perfect, then perhaps, you'd have the right to judge others.
