Everyone but "Enlightenment" seems enlightened. I suspect that "Emlightened" has been nipping at the sauce a little more than should be allowed. Also, you asked for only those with military experience. I doubt sincerely that this person has any amount of experience (other than perhaps servicing the troops) and has probably never walked a mile (in anyone's shoes). So much flatulance in the wind... My bias is definitely toward the Marine Corps. I was enlisted Navy, but spent almost all of it with the Corps. I've a sister and a cousin who both went Air Force, she was a corrosion control tech., he was a "Security Police" in the P.I. Both are out now. She ended up with a good job working with GPS equipment. He couldn't do any better than a "Custodian" at a local school. One of my Marine Corps buds though, got bored with airframes and powerplants and went into base security after hours. Retired now, he's an officer of the law in Wichita, Kansas. And me? I went from practicing medicine for 23 years and owning all of the Independent Duty Corpsmen assigned to the Marine Corps' 3d MAW, to owning my own business. Just shows, you never know where life's road will take you -- even if you have a degree or two.

Honestly, my husband is in the Army (not an MP), and we wish sometimes that he had joined the Air Force. They deploy a lot less, and they treat the families better. We had a neighbor who was in the Air Force - when my husband asked him when he was deploying next, he gave us a weird look and said "We don't do that." My husband is leaving for his third 12-18 month tour in Iraq later this year. Which wife and kids would you rather be?

I was a Law Enforcement K9. USAF Security Police. I also worked Air base Ground Defense and Emergency Services Team. It was a good experience. I did alot and went alot of places. Got a chance to work with the Special Operation Squadron as a point man. Did alot of perimeter security and tracking.

If you want benefits outside of simply being an MP do NOT go in the Army. Army MPs are deploying constantly overseas. Is that what you want? No? Want to be challenged, be proud and be the best and not leave the country all the time...be a Marine.
Want to get treated like a civilian and not get deployed? Go for the Air Force.
Want to get abused, used, chewed up, constantly deployed overseas and overworked and not get promoted? Go Army.

No matter what branch you choose take advantage of off duty education. If your heart is in law enforcement then you don't just want to be on guard duty. Off duty education will also help toward advancement in any branch of the service.

When troops come home, they had a lot of trouble adjusting back to civilian life, and they didn’t know what was wrong with them. I know one who went to the troop clinic, and they diagnosed him with Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, which also affected about 60 percent of soldiers he deployed with.

The clinic decided to throw pills like Paxil at him, which made him feel even worse, and suicidal at times. He started to cope in his own way with alcohol, and hit the bottle real hard. It got to the point where he couldn’t take it any more, and he got out.

When he came home, he fell deeper in the dark hole. He tried to go to the local VA. They told him they were backed up in claims, and what he was feeling was normal.

That’s when he joined Iraq Veterans Against the War, because he felt he needed to surround himself with fellow vets who had similar problems, and who also felt that Bush lied just to start this immoral war.

He felt that he was supposed to be fighting for freedom, but when he came home, all the American people’s freedoms were taken away, due to the Patriot Act and illegal NSA spying.

There was one time when he came home from Iraq from mid-term leave, and airport security made him step aside so they could wave the wand around him, and he was in full uniform. He couldn’t believe it. Here he is fighting and risking his life in Iraq so that we could keep freedom from supposed terrorist threats, and he told me he felt like the enemy.

If you join up be ready to be treated this way.

Perhaps you should get an education first? Do something else until the command in this military is not in the hands of a well-known dry drunk and fool George W. Bush...

Keep yourself in line, forget this stupid war and the military at this time... it is a mess.
