What is this strange desire to want to live forever? i.e. Christians: Want to live forever in mansions and on streets of Gold and saying night and day forever: "Holy is the Lord" "Blessed is Jesus!" (Read the book of Revelation)

Who would even want this?

I mean, a million years later, after you know everything and have been everywhere, any being would want to die! A billion years? What then?

The idea of eternal life is nothing more than a political philosophy to pacify the ignorant masses and to control events in this life.

You think that 70 or 80 years is a long time? You don't even know what you think. You stake your entire reality and existence on the presupposition that Christianity is true, yet, you have no more experience with God than a rock does.

Inless you ARE GOD - Eternal life is equivalent to Hell.

I do
Humans were created with the desire to live forever. We would be enjoying that priviledge if our first parents had only done what God required of them.
Because of God's Son giving up his perfect life in exchange for the life of Adam, we now have the promise that many will certainly live forever here on earth, free of wickedness, sickness and death.
Life will not be boring, for God's wonderful creations will keep us occupied for all time. There are so many things that we have never seen or explored, here on earth and in the universe. Life will be good for all the meek who inherit the earth. (Psalms 37:9-11)

I can appreciate your feeling that living eternally is not your idea of fun. :P I believe that even if eternal life were not an option, living as a Christian is still the best way of life. I'm different than most "Christians" as I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses and as such have the hope of living eternally here on earth, where everything we know and love is!

God always had a small group who were priests. In the same way, only a small group will live in heaven as kings and priests to rule over the rest of God's people who will 'inherit the earth'. If you don't mind the idea of not existing, and don't like the thought of submitting to God and Jesus, then obviously you wouldn't want to be a subject of God's Kingdom.

Do you feel at peace outside in nature? Do you enjoy fresh air? Enjoy watching animals play? How much do you like food? These things for me could just never get old. Living forever in a world free of death, crime, injustice, pollution, and other social ills appeals to me. You could always use your cynical eyes to look into this yourself. :)

I am just curious, but, could you let's say chose a time when you would like to die. I don't anyone would, yeah. like I could ever say, well i lived a good life so I just die next week and get it over with. God put it into the hearts of men to want to live forever, and for the mass majority of those gaining eternal life, it won't be in heaven, it will be on earth, in the flesh, and we will still have to grow food, make our clothing, build our own homes, make things that we need and want, there will be plenty of things to do throughout all eternity, and we will always be learning more things about our God, deep things that have not yet been revealed. Those who gain eternal life in heaven will also have things to do, the anointed of God who go to heaven will be priests of God and associate kings with Christ Jesus among other things, there is always something to do, it won't be boring. Those, on the other hand, who do not worship God and exercise faith in his Son, Christ Jesus, will go out of existence, they will be done away with, there is no eternal suffering in a burning Hell, that is a lie of Satan to make God look wicked, and those who believe such a thing are on Satan's side.

Exactly, that's why I say that the Christian idea of Heaven would be to me, the ultimate Hell. I have no desire to be immortal. Sure, I wouldn't mind living longer, maybe even having an afterlife... but not for all eternity. What happens after you've done everything there is to do and learned everything there is to know? Then what? Such things are finite and eternity is infinite.

I do. But that's the only wistful thinking of a soul. In reality, such wish is not necessary because in spirit we live forever. Our souls simply picking up strange spiritual transmission of who we are as spirit which ignorantly interpreted by our souls as the need of the physical body to cling to an earthly life. To a certain and extreme extent, some distorted views developed in an ugly desire to be with much younger generations such as pedophiles.

Hi...to answer your question...No! I myself wouldn't want to "live forever". Mainly because I hope that I could be with my "Father in Heaven" where there was no more wars, or hatred, or prejudices just "Love & Peace" with Our Lord and Savior. Can you imagine being on this earth forever? I can't. Nor would I want to be as the way it looks now. There is too much hatred in this world today. Too much "greed" and the "power" behind it. There is always someone that wants "more, more, more" to where wars start. Where there is war there is hunger for power and greed and hatred. I can't imagine living in this world forever not seeing my parents or siblings or good friends that died prior in my life time. I hope I'm in the "Book of Life" so I can live with my loved one's and being with my Father. Have a Blessed day!

Hell is eternal chaos.

Revelation 21:8 But for the fearful, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and fornicators, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, their part shall be in the lake that burneth with fire and brimstone; which is the second death.

In Heaven is true life.

1Timothy 6:19 laying up in store for themselves a good foundation against the time to come, that they may lay hold on the life which is life indeed.

I am a born of God, spirit filled Christian. I have eternal life within me, and I won't trade that for the world.

Eternal life isn't equivalent to Hell. Eternal death is equivalent to Hell. Is that you want to do, die forever?

I think you need to have your head examined.

we all live forever no matter what path we choose, we either end up in heaven praising god or in hell living in misery .maybe you should read all the other books in the bible besides Revelation because it is so much more than that besides chances are that if you don't want to live forever praising god, you wont instead you will live forever in hell were there is nothing but pain and suffering!
eternal pain or eternal paradise its your choice. and the only way to paradise is though Christ Jesus!

I agree with you. May be being tied up to things that are related to life make people live longer. The anti-aging craze is a good example of that.. And if one doensn't believe in after-life this can make him want to live longer too... But 60-70 years, in my opinion is suitable if I don't start making huge amunts of money just when I'm 70 years old :)
