It might sound an odd question, I hope you know what I mean.

I think in words - always - but my friend, who is an artist, sees images in her head when she describes something.

Xx-Zowie-Xx: that's an interesting take on the matter... I'm both creative and academic, but not very logical or practical, and I usually think in words.

This is not an odd question. It is really interesting, for the simple fact that it touches an area that most people don't think about.

I think in pictures, and because I live in a foreign country sometimes words are meaningless to me. But mind you, that not all words have a picture related to it, think for example of abstract words, such as hope, love, peace. You can associate some images to it, like a dove, a heart, or a white flag, but those words have no specific image.

I think most people think in both, depending on what the subject is. Images are stringer that words though, and people can remember better images than words. Words are by themselves abstract concepts invented by humans to give meaning to daily objects, feelings, and thoughts.

this questions reminds me one that a friend asked me the other day: in what language do you dream?

Maybe this is a very nice topic for a future research.

In my opinion it is purely subjective. For example, if your thoughts are about a conversation, text or numerical issue then generally your thoughts would be in words or numbers. But if you're reminiscing about a day out or thinking about how you would like your room to look if you are decorating then generally your thoughts will be in images.

Love the question. Its kind of both words and pics. Consciousness is quite an abstract thing to try to explain.

I knew that. I additionally be attentive to there are "vogue police" for a rustic the place even conservative gown code would properly be deemed no longer conservative sufficient. "Tehran's police have mentioned they are working a three diploma technique in imposing the hot wave of a crackdown on gown deemed to be unIslamic, which began with some intensity on Monday afternoon. First, women persons are given a verbal warning on the line. If the difficulty isn't resolved there, they are taken to the police station for "guidance" and to sign a vow to no longer repeat the offence. ought to this be unsuccessful, their case is exceeded to the judiciary. "optimistic my manto is short, yet there are various others whose clothing are extra seductive than mine and that they strolling via with none punishment," between the arrested ladies in the minibus complained bitterly. The arrested women persons will now visit a "centre for suffering with vice". Their mothers and dads would be phoned and that they're going to deliver an prolonged coat and fuller scarf for their daughters. If the extra youthful women persons sign the pledge they're going to then be released." (url1) "almost 2-thirds of Iran's parliament have signed a fact helping the newest combat against "Western cultural invasion." this is blamed for such annoying circumstances to Islamic gown codes as women persons's headscarves pushed returned and pants cropped short to coach as plenty leg as obtainable. some 70,000 police officers have been deployed in Tehran this month to enforce the gown codes, the state information company IRNA mentioned. "Confronting people who're no longer sufficiently veiled is a valid call for of the persons," mentioned Iran's police chief, Gen. Esmaeil Ahmadi Moghadam..." (url2) in the united kingdom i do no longer think of we've had Parliament plenty prepared on clothing using fact the ban on wearing the Highland kilt (1747) become repealed in 1783. Edit: using fact I already knew approximately Iranian vogue (and rebellious young human beings pushing the barriers are *everywhere* (bar some exceptions, possibly?) and since the whole image of actuality comes with *the two* sides if no longer many extra effective than 2. i will even discover the different edge to "unfastened media": i've got further an old image which has amused and recommended me for some years, with reference to the media and reporting "the reality".
