James M's got it. Norton wouldn't dare include a keylogger, whose sole purpose is to spy on your computer use. That would ruin their (already tattered) reputation.
It MAY wish to report back to base the details of any new virus it comes across on your PC, but that would have nothing to do with your activities, just what it's discovered so a remedy can be sought.
I suspect someone's half-heard and embellished something along those lines.

It's highly unlikely that Norton downloads a key logger, but after the Sony root kit incident anything is possible. There are however no good key loggers, the purpose of a key logger is spying on your use of your computer. Sony got their fingers burned buy downloading a root kit and any company deliberately spying on our use of computers would be looking at serious damage to it's reputation. Don't believe everything you hear.

Do yourself a favour and ditch Norton, it's the biggest pile of crap ever and is resource hungry, slows your PC and is evasive. Get AVG for free.

Norton is rated the worst for online security. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I had them once and it take me long to get rid of them. I use F-Secure which is very good.
