Pure, water based products will keep from clogging your pores. Products that contain mineral oil, the molecular structure of which is too large to penetrate your pores, sit on the top layer of your skin like saran wrap and allow dirt and debris to collect on your skin. This causes irritation, dryness, and other skin related problems (blemishes, clogged pores, etc). Using a water based product, preferably a deep pore cleanser or mask, will bring your impurities to the surface. Arbonne has a great deep pore cleansing mask that is botanically based and specifically formulated to bring black and white heads to the surface. I love it and use it 1-2 times a week. It works great.
