Doubt causes us to distrust God. If you read through the creation look at how much care and thought God put into the world He designed for Adam and Eve, and how well they were provided for, and then notice how easily the serpent plants doubt in Eve's mind. What had Satan ever done for Eve that she should trust him over God? And yet, that's what she does.

Doubt is the sort of distrust of God that leads us to sin. It's disregard for all that God has done for us.

No I dont agree. The opposite of faith is no faith. If we dont question our faith and beliefs how can we make them our own.We need to prove to ourselves that what we are being taught is indeed from the word of God.
Note the example of the Beroeans found in Acts17:11.They weren't contend in just believing what Paul was teaching them. They carefully examined the scriptures "to whether these things were so".
At 1Thess.5:21 Paul advice to Christians was to "make sure of all things".
and Pro.14:15 states:"Anyone inexperienced puts faith in every word, but the shrewd one considers his steps"
When Thomas doubted Jesus' resurrection,Jesus didnt condemn him,did he?
We are imperfect human beings. It is our nature to question.Doubting is not a sin.It is a human reaction.

Doubt is a sign for double mindedness.

JAS 1:2 Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, 3 because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. 4 Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. 5 If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to him. 6 But when he asks, he must believe and not doubt, because he who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. 7 That man should not think he will receive anything from the Lord; 8 he is a double-minded man, unstable in all he does.

It's a "sin" to doubt because religion can't be proven by empirical evidence. Making it a sin to doubt made it so that when someone raised a valid question concerning the validity of the religion, it could be answered by telling you how terrible you are for even asking the question. I went through the same thing over the past 2 years or so. I am now, not a believer in Christianity. I would riase questions, and raise questions and raise questions, and finally they would get tired of me not believing and say, "It's a sin to doubt."

I Hope that this is the scripture you had in mind.

Romans 14:23 - And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

I am not sure it is a sin to question things. That is different than doubt. One of the original twelve apostles, Thomas doubted yet he loved Christ and was declared a saint.

Because it is against faith.

Romans 14:23 But he that doubteth is condemned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith; and whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

Because it is. If you doubt in evolution, then you are sinning! Is it not obvious. The school teacher and kids laugh at others who doubt in evolution.

By the way, many romans believe in evolution, and tell you not to doubt it.

I don't know what verse that is, but in the Bible Jesus said that it is a fool who does not question. I think that is one of the reasons we are here, to find ourselves.

Doubt means you aren't buying the bull they are spoon feeding you. They want to keep feeding it to you so they have you under their control. It makes perfect sense then to make you feel bad for doubting.
