My hair is extraordinarily thick, and wavy, my conair flat iron just doesn't do the job, does anybody have any tips on which one works the best? I'd appreciate details/experiences, money isn't really an issue. Thanks so much!

I've heard that the Chi only lasts for a year, and I'm looking for a durable hair sthraightener, and steam doesn't soften your hair, it boils it, making it brittle and broken (experience)

Your iron probably does not get hot enough. I use Corioliss and gets really hot in a few seonds but I always hear about the CHI. Buy a ceramic one with tourmaline and ionic technology (it helps defrizz your hair).

CHI's are horrible. They fry your hair more than any other flat iron. Granted, they get the job done but they do it in the most harmful manner.
If you love your hair, don't get a CHI. You'll just be damaging it, adding tons of split ends, and frying it.
Get a Solia or Sedu.
They are around the same price but work much better.
I use a Solia and it works very well.

Folica.com
Go there. They have a bigggg selection of many different types of flat irons, including those I mentioned.
If you're willing to spend a bit more, Sephora has *the best* Tourmaline flat iron that you can find online.
I will go find the link for you...

That's it.

GOOD LUCK in finding the perfect flat iron for you!

I also have thick thick curly hair, and i've used the remington wet to straight iron for about a year. It's amazing. It works best on wet hair, but I am too lazy to do it, so i dry it straight, which useally makes it a puff of hair, but a few times over each section of hair and it's straight and really soft.

You can get them at any store like walmart, target and drugstores, and they're only like 30 bucks. It's the cheapest iron i've ever bought and it has worked the best.

Hope this helps!

Chi's are terrible for your hair. The fact that they only have one heat setting means every time you're just frying your hair. Straight from the professionals. A revelon straightener, you can get at walmart for like 30 bux, does an amazing job on my hair and I have hair about like yours. takes about 30-45 minutes to straighten my hair. It has different heat settings too, so you wont burn your hair. Always use a protective sealer on your hair before using any straightener, such as flat out, which you can get at some salons. Also using a V05 leave in product on the ends helps prevent split ends, and keeps your hair from looking like hay. Good luck.=)

Chi is really great. I have really wavy hair that is difficult to get straight and chi is the only one I've used that can get it straight without spending forever to do it.

I have a Remington Wet to Straight flat iron, and I love it! It wasn't expensive,. and I don't have to wait forever for my hair to dry to iron it before work! Those of us with thick hair, it's very difficult to wait a hundred years for our hair to dry, unless we want to blow-dry it first, and make it frizzier, and i don't have that much time in my day! I like to get out of the shower, straighten my hair, and get on with my life! Just try it, it's only like $30.
