Ever since last year I started talking to myself. sometimes for up to an hour a day...i like it though, i talk about things that i usually wouldn't to most other people.
also, when i talk to other people i get really nervous, sometimes shake if it's in front of a few other....this isn't everybody though just some people.

i am also have developed a facination for certain things, like garden gnomes and ghosts.

i kind of have this little voice in the back of my head that is telling me that i'm losing my mind. what should i do??

Jess,

If you were insane, you would not be in the right mind to acknowledge that.

You are just garden variety nuts like most normal people!

Follow your heart. not the voice in the back of your head. MAn I wish I had sth like that telling me what to do all the time. I would probably chat with it all the time. Go see a doctor instead of asking a question on yahoo forum.

This happened to my father. ... and i believe i am starting to get the same thing.
Do not worry TOO much as this may be a stress factor.
Maybe something is stressing you at the moment? (bereavement, for example, may be an example of why you talk to yourself - as you find comfort in yourself to replace the loss)
Anything could be the cause of this - it just needs a trigger.
Try to write a list of things that may be badly affecting you.
Take some time to think of what these things may be as there may be some things which you hadn't noticed before.
Show the list to your GP who should be able to refer you to a specialist psychologist.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with you talking to yourself. You get better answers that way and no arguement! Don't listen to that voice at the back of your head unless it is disturbing you, If it is then go and see your doctor. Nothing to worry about with the fascinations either.

these things are "quirks" if they dont interfere with your daily life. If they concern or distress you, or you perceive that they cause others to view you negatively, you should seek professional counseling.
