First aid? Stop the bleeding as soon as possible by pressure or tourniquet. Worry about infection or gangrene later, since if the blood is coming out that fast, the person will die rather quickly if the bleeding isn't stopped immediately.

Yes emergency! Arterial blood pumps or gushes out and you would need to apply pressure to stop it ASAP!
