It is a very bad way to die. It lasts for at least 10-20 minutes.
Hanging is a terrible, disgusting idea.

if the hanging involves a drop, it usually will break the neck. but from just a dead hang, the noose cuts off the oxygen and blood supply to the brain. it can also crush the lyrynx causing strangulation.
if you are contemplating suicide, get help. suicide is bad enough, but hanging is a horrible death because you don't die right away and have time to think about what you're doing and it might be too late.
