I have a five yr old lab, and two of his pups that are 6 months old, 1 chocolate & 1white. In the last two weeks the 5 year old has bitten the white twice. I can't have them loose in the house at the same time even. Now here's the twist, the young chocolate is the one that jumps on, bites and climbs all over the 5 year old and they don't seem to have a problem, the white doesn't do any of this, and still adores his father. The father is also a hunting dog and we have never had a problem with other dogs in the feild, even when they bit him. He's never bit back. Do you think neutering will help?

Probably not. It seems to me that he has a "personality" conflict with the white pup. My BIL has a yorkie and his son. The father has always been dominate and aggressive over his son although both are neutered. I think you are going to have to work with the father. Always be there when the two are together and discipline the father for any aggressive behavior towards his pup (is the chocolate one a girl?, that may account for why he allows the behavior from the chocolate dog).

It is probably too late to neuter him to change most of his reaction to the pups, but give it a try. He might be too old to make a difference in personality and aggressiveness.

It is possible it could help but it is not going to solve the problem. The older dog is the alpha male and he has already decided who he likes and dislikes in his pack. Getting him fixed will take away some of his natural male instinct therefore helping but it is not going to solve the problem. Sorry i couldnt be more helpful. Good luck!

Dont forget in the wild males are know for killing pups, to them they are a threat.

yep, can't hurt,, neuter the pups too. and if they must be together in the house , put on one of those nylon muzzles, ( they can still drink water, pant etc.) i had to do that for 1 week with my golden , when a new pup came home... now all is well.
