When I was about 7 my uncle molested me and I told my aunt (his wife) about it and she just said don't say anything, he will go to jail. He just molested me once but he would harrass me for years now he is dead but my aunt is still here. Also after he molested me she knew and she would still bring me around him.....now I am 16 and I cringe when I have to be around her but she trys to be nice to me and I guess she is sorry but I just can't take it. I hate going to family gatherings because of this. Should I not be like this? How would you be around her, if she was really sorry? What should I do?

Is there an adult you can talk to, like mom or dad? If nothing else, have you tried just avoiding her? I know when my family has our holiday gatherings, I stay away from the ones I can't stand to be around. I go outside if they're inside. If we're all outside, I go to the other side of wherever we are. I suggest talking to someone about her and everything that has happened since you were 7.

First of all look out for your own feelings, do what makes you feel best...
You have every right to be upset, pissed off, and never want to see or speak to her again... All I can say is do what make you feel better even if it hurts the family or makes things akward...
me personally I would have gone to the police that night... An old man who molests a helpless little girl deserves to go to jail....

Honey..I am so sorry that you had to go through that.Your aunt was just as wrong as your uncle because she did nothing about it.You need to tell her that now that you are older and after you tell her then you should not have to deal with her just ignore her if you see her at a family function tell her that she is not familty to you because family does not allow that kind of thing to happen.Best Wishes and Good Luck to yet another SURVIVOR....

It breaks my heart to hear you were molested.. please get help if this is something that haunts you... there is help out there.. and it's important that you can cope in life, hon.
You are never required to associate with someone you are uncomfortable around.
I can't blame you for disliking family functions.
When i am uncomfortable around someone, i avoid them, instead of causing myself undue stress.
Do what makes YOU uncomfortable. You are the only person who knows what is best for you.

well its ok to hate her but u gotta fogive her eventually....she is really wrong for not helping u out when u got raped..she was suppose to help u but put it like this the worst is over she is probably is humilated about the fa ct that hes dead an she now has to face u but u have to forgive her and let the rest happened on its...as my mama says God will take care of it

I would tell someone about it a trusted adult. If you hold things in like that then you will feel bad about it. Things like that are absolutly terrible and you should never have to keep quiet. Your Aunt should be in jail for knowing about it and not saying anything. Please tell someone.

You have the right to feel this way. But you need to forgive her. I know it sounds wrong but its what you need to do. You may never really forigive her but just tell her you do. You need to make the best of what you have with her, especially now that he is gone. Its going to be hard but thats the right thing to do.

That is just terrible, seeing family members you love hurt you! What I would do would be, get your mom and your dad and tell them truefully if they dont know. Tell them all about it, and they will take care of it, and you wouldnt have to worry about it as much!

I would react the same way you did. I think you should go see a psychiatrist so you can let go of all your emotions. Maybe then you will be able to be around her.

if she is sorry, try to forgive her... she didnt molest u, it was ur uncle's fault... well the guy iz dead so that would be enough for him... try to talk to someone u trust "in person" so u can go on with ur life.... i feel sorry for you...
