Its hard to deal with it. I have been pulling for 14 years (I am 27). Its just a day to day process. Some days ok some days bad. Very few seem to be great. I shaved my hair a month ago. I have a beautiful wig though. Shaving my head was the toughest thing I ever had to do (as far as my looks go) My hubby helped and was a big support. Its still tough though. I just wish this would all go away.

whoooa. that last answer is enough to scare the living s**t out of you. I'm sure you have quite enough issues. i have the same thing except mine plays out as skin picking. i get irritated with myself because I know I should as an intelligent person, be able to stop doing this but i cant. As far as my research has gone i have found out that it fits in between ocd and tourrettes syndrome.... neither of which puts you in the facility space. yikes. yes, there are meds to help you which will make the amount of times you do it less but this has to be done in conjunction with a sort of note keeping and a strict knowledge of when and where and your triggers... and some coping and replacing the pulling with other physical actions.. such as pulling an elastic band around your wrist. its a really difficult thing to walk around with and yes we do try and hide it. i wish you the best with it. I take it as a hiccup in my system not a hideous flaw. you are welcome to email me

If you believe the first answer, then you will believe anything.!!!
If you are pulling your own hair...shave it all off, then you have nothing to pull.
If it is someone else doing the pulling ..the same solution applies.
If it is someone else pulling someone else's hair...tell them that all hair is full of lice.Works for me.!!!

I am a trained psychiatrist.

From what I can tell, you have ADD and probably Bi-Polar II.
You need to be on Ritalin and Rispiridone. Possibly Lexapro and maybe Lithium as well.
I am sorry to say but I am picking up signs of early onset schizophrenia in your writings too.

I highly suggest that you have yourself admitted to a psychiatric facility where they can correct the problems.

Start seeing a psychiatrist regularly. He can monitor your dangerous tendancies and make sure that you won't harm anyone.
