My son doesnt eat like I'd like him to. He eats a lot of grilled cheese and P, B, & J but he also like cherrios, apples, banana's...he refuses to eat veggies. Do you moms have any recipes out there for a picker eater?

I used to steam cauliflour and mash it with mashed potatoes- my whole family loved the way I made mashed potatoes, but they didn't realize they were full of cauliflour.

My mother made the best gravy ever, and I only recently learned why it was so good and why mine never turned out that way. In order to get us to eat vegetables she would cook a pot roast or turkey with peas, carrots, etc. and then when they were finished she would put the peas and carrots out of the roast pot in the blender with some milk, blend it until it was smooth and reheat it. Absolutely the best gravy ever. The sauce for home made pot pie is sometimes a blend of veggies, too.

I found that my kids would often go through phases of wanting to eat just one thing. I didn't worry about it too much and they would eventualy switch to something else. I continued to offer them different things but didn't get into a war of wills over what they did or didn't eat. (That's a sure-fire way to create a picky eater!)

How old is he? If hes young, tell him that Superman ( or whoever his fav superhero/character is) eats vegtables & thats how they stay strong or its cool to eat healthy foods ect. Get him a dinnerset with that fav superhero or w/e. Also my aunt did this to me cousin & it worked lol & very funny to watch! She blindfolded him & had him taste things ranging from cake to asparagus. She jus spooned it in him & aske dif he liked it or not but didn't tell what it was. Ven he was suprised about what he liked. Also it helps for you to set the right example, if you want him to eat healthy then you should to. If your lounging around eating cupcakes & watching televison why should he eat his veggie s& run outside & play? So if you want him to be physically active or eat healthy then you have to to! You try, like the frutis he does not like you could dip them in choclate, or the veggies you could hide them in a casserole & see if he eats it anyways. Just experiment & I'm sure theres tons of stuff on the net! GOod Luck! Ps. Try the blindfolding thing for sure, make it a game, fun & not dreaded, also maybe a reward system like if you clean your plate you get desert, or a chart & he gets a small toy at teh end of each month. If the blindfolding thing doesn't work it will still be amusing lol. Oh, and since he is so fond of PB&J & Grilled cheese, that could be his reward or priviledge.

For veggies, I have a daughter that does not like green food. Gerber graduates has pasta filled with veggies and my daughters love those. Try some other fruits. Also my daughters love black beans and they are good for you so I make Bean Burritos, take a tortilla and put some beans and some cheese in it and heat it up. Just keep trying to get him to try different foods.

These are all great ideas. Chunks of extra firm tofu were big with my little one (they don't really taste like anything at all), and I used a lot of tricks like putting carrot juice in OJ, cauliflower in the mashed potatoes, mango and nectarines mashed up and put into popsicle molds.

we used to feed diced carrots and peas to our son. We cooked them with some apple juice to make the flavor a bit more appealing to him and he ate it up like candy.

if you are concerned about vegetable consumption, consider something like a blended fruit and vegetable juice like V8 or V8 splash.

try using a cheese sauce over brocolli and cauliflour that is cut really fine.

hope that helps
