Honestly, those who said 'because you typed chicken first', that would be the least best answers that I would pick.

I believe that the chicken came first because God created all of the animals first and I do not think that he made them as babies otherwise they wouldn't have mothers to teach them.

What a shame!
I thought I would test this age old question.
I got a chicken (a live one, yet) and an egg (an uncooked one, already).
I built a track in my back yard, put the chicken and the egg on the start line, said "Ready, Steady" and fired my gun - and shot the bloody chicken!
The poor old egg was in such a state of shock - it just stayed there. Didn't move an inch. I mean, I thought it might have cried, "Mummy Mummy" or something like that.
Oh well - fried egg tomorrow morning.

I don't think any one can ever really know for sure! I mean, picture a chicken, that chicken came from an egg that came from another chicken (who came from an egg of another chicken), and then it keeps going on and on and on and on...

The egg came first. Some other bird laid an egg that had a mutation, so the embryo inside grew to become a chick instead of whatever it was supposed to be.
